Default Intercoolers in Winter time...

I'm seriously thinking abot turboing my teg gs when I get it, but I'm worried about the intercooler in the winter. Up here in Canada it can get pretty cold with tons of snow. Is it alright to drive the car in the winter with the intercooler showing? Would getting a grilcraft grill of sorts to help prevent snow, dirt and debris from coming in help any?
Thanks!

i'm from toronto and from what i know...it shouldn't be too bad...
the intercooler is aluminum so won't rust...
the only thing you should watch out for is flying salt =P
a grill might be a good idea

Thanks for the reply,
Can anyone else add anything? Any other turbo owners that drive their car in the snow?
I guess I'll add some sort of grill or something when the time comes...

I had a front mount on my teg and I live in Boston and had no problem running with it through the snow.

One thing you should consider when turboing in the winter is that the air will be cooled even further which will mean that you will need more fuel. Make sure that you are. This past winter, I got detonation boosting at the same level that I boosted safely at last summer and it doesn't get that cold here.

I've run mine for two winters without a problem. I just blasted the salt off it about once a week. Intercoolers look Dizzope with icycles hanging from them . I was running 11.8:1 at 25C, and didn't get retuned for the winter. I never had any detonation, and damn the car pulls hard when it is -20C out.

ohh, that must be when we get that pesky inch of rain and the temp goes down to like 65. I hate that. however, my intercooler survived many winters.

i dont have turbo on my car yet, so i don't know a lot about making adjustments with them. But what if your car was tuned in the summer time with your hondata or whatever...and the winter comes and you need to add more fuel. Do you have to go back and retune the hondata or can you just bump up the fuel pressure?

**** i wonder if you packed a big snowball of it, i know it would effect flow but with it being 20 degrees and haveing icecold snow i dont think airflow would matter. supercold intake temps!
