intercooler temp gauges?
does anyone use those gauges for your intercooler that reads incoming and exiting air temps???
i wouldl like to get a set i live in florida and want to see the differences and how the car reacts

Those buggers are expensive, and Autometer is the only company I have found that makes them.
It would be nice to have, though.

I've seen some dual gauges on the net, that have dual IAT gauges in one gauge (used mainly for aircraft apps). Get two senders and they would probably work. Let me see if I can find em.
Edit: found this: http://shannon.v8eaters.com/tos.html - I swear I saw some aircraft gauge related page at one time though...

The reason the Autometer ones are so expensive is because they have complicated electronics. I don't know precisely why, but I have seen them and there is a big control box that comes with the gauge. I assume it is some sort of processing to find intercooler efficiency, etc.
But keeping it simple, there are gauges with digital readouts that can work. Nordskog makes a good gauge:
Nordskog
Which simply uses an IAT sender to measure ambiant air temperature, but the full range of the sender is 200°, which should be enough for intake temperatures. This won't tell you how hot your pre-intercooled temps are, or how efficient your IC is, but it can tell you the most important figure: How hot the air going into the engine is getting.
There are also analog gauges which measure ambiant air temperature, and they likely use similar senders, but the full range of the gauge is usually -20° to 120°, almost useless for turbo intake temps.
Besides that, and the TOS gauges, well, you're stuck coughing up $200+ for the Autometer gauge.

Buying parts solely for aestetics reasons is pretty gay - is your show car painted pink, perchance?
National.com LM34 free samples. Come in C and F flavors. Configure properly and they output a simple temp to volt ratio. Use LM3914 or wtf ever it describes in component spec sheet to build LCD display. Nothing difficult here, just following simple directions and pictures.

Homophobe? You know what they say....
Buying something for pure aesthetics is rice, but why pay $120 for something ugly that wasn't designed for the application when the proper gauge is $80 more?
Is that better?
Anyway, some of the other suggestions were much less expensive.

Because knowing both temperatures is a nice thing. IIRC the autometer just tells you the temp drop across the core, not the actual air temps going into the cooler or the motor.
