Default Intercooler Size

Car: 92 Civic Hatch B16 GenII

Will an intercooler measuring 24*12*3 fit?
I will be running 15-18 PSI. What size intercooler will I need?

Up to what PSI is a 22*9*3 intercooler sufficient?

That's pretty big you may have a little sticking outside the bumper.

Will a Spearco with the dimensions of 32*8*3 (24*8*3 core) fit my hatch? Please let me know asap. Thanks!

They say the 22*8*3 core will support 450 whp, is this correct? Is there much of an advantage for me to get the 24*8*3 core? Thanks!!

You would not gain as much as increasing the numbers of rows. The row length has much less to do with cooling ability than the number of rows. Excess length will only add to the overall volume of your charge air system and can cause some lag.
8x22x3 -vs- 8x24x3 more volume difference than cooling difference
8x22x3 -vs- 12x20x3 more cooling difference than volume difference
*relative dimensions for example*

Wouldnt the bigger IC have more volume and bigger surface area. While the smaller IC have less volume and surface area? 720 vs. 576. Or is like physics or something that applies to the intercoolersize?

Length = Volume
Height = Efficency

No not really true..I'm using this as an example for intercoolers with horizontal row cores. Think about the number of rows (pathways through core).
8x22x3 core; let's say the core has 10 rows each of which are 22 inches long.
8x24x3 core; it obviously has the same number (10) of rows but are 2 inches longer.
12x20x3 core; this core has more rows (let's say 14) but are only 20 inches in length.

An increase in row length only will net you some extra cooling but you will see "more" of a cooling increase with more rows than with simply using the same number of rows and increasing the length. I bet this is better explained in the Maximum Boost book, which you may want to look over.

**just remember that you can over-do anything and that what works in most application still won't work best in EVERY application.**
