Default Intercooler piping size

I know...I'm bored....I'm making a lot of dumb discusion posts, but....

Every major kit comes w/ 2.5" piping, some do 2.25" from the turbo to the IC.

Every book and decent autority says that for under 300hp ic piping should be kept around 2".

I've never seen anyone run 2" ic pipes (even though I probably will on my upcoming project)

Any thoughts? Bigger is better getting into peoples heads?

The red hatch from GroundZero Motorsports runs 2 inch I believe. He is making over 500 whp on his setup. I personally am going to run 2.5 to match the outlet on my turbo as well as my throttlebody.

Many aftermarket kits have a 2 inch pipe from the turbo to intercooler, then 2.25-2.5 from the ic to throtle body. This is often done to match the pipe diameter to throtle body. On many occasions, I have played with pipe sizing to either increase or decrease boost response which effects the power band slightly. Smaller the pipe, the better the response. the larger the pipe, the more flow it provides... but larger is not always better. Stick to 2-2.5 inch

You got to be kidding me?only 3 inch? Why are you using such small pipes. You need to upgrade to 4 inch. Then you can make some real power!! I think 6 inch pipes might be over kill unless your aiming for 110whp. any less than that go with the 4 inch!!

In my opinion, i think optimum intercooler piping size, the OD of the outlet of the compressor should match the OD of the charge pipe to the intercooler, and from the IC to the TB it should step up 1/4 - 1/2 inch in size, and then open up near the throttle body to match its size...
