Which intercooler to get. anyone have experience with Griffin?
Im looking into getting a front mount intercooler, i only want to spend about 500 bux on one. here are my current choices
choice one: Spearco fourth one down on the right,
that is going to cost me about 580
i found a DSM site which sells Griffin Cores and your choice of endtanks, and they have a welding charge of 60 dollars. the core is 300 and the hks endtanks are 70/ea so total it would cost about 500
here is a pic of that one assembled
sorry for the big pic
well please let me know what you guys think i should do. or if you have any experiences with either of these intercoolers. thanks peace

I got my XS GTR Intercooler for $500 plus shipping off the Partstrader.com from some dude brand new. I think they sell around that price.....$500-$700 range with end tanks welded.

thanks for all the feedback guys, i really appreciate it. Im leaning alot towards the griffin now. I just cant see spending an extra 80 bux when another intercooler setup could be just as good if not better is available. I also like the hks entanks, a bit smoother in my opinion.

If you have access to someone who can TIG weld, you can make your own aluminum endtanks for like $20 worth of materials...

That Griffin intercooler is the exact one that I want to go with too. It is a pretty damn good size too, only thing is I do not know about the pressure drop or its effeciency.

Yeah, I was at the track tonight. I asked a DSM guy what he thought of the Griffins'. 1st off he had a BIG spearco, 24x10x3.5 was the core. He told me that none of the "fast" DSM guys went with the Griffins IC's--or was it "no DSM guys go fast with Griffin's". Anyhow, I kinda looked at him like maybe he knew what he was talking about, until.......... I see that he couldnt get his POS eclipse out of the 14's with his "spearco" and 20G along with many other mods including a DFI and drag radials all around. Hah, what a joke this fool was!!!
I think that I am definetly goin with the Griffin IC. What a sweet piece it is!

It also depends on what kind of racing your doing? If its a street car...the Spearco might work better. It has more aluminum on it and works better as a heat sink when the cars not at top speed. If your driving it around everyday, I would think about the spearco as the other style needs more air. The only down fall with the spearco is that it weighs a little more. It looks nice though...and actually looks like an HKS too.
