Integra Turbo Heat Problem!!! Is This Normal?
I just turboed my 95 Integra LS and it seem that everything under the hood is ten times hotter. Its melting the plastic protectors off my wires in some cases. I do have a water cooled toubo so I know thats a problem. I think most of it is coming off the manifold and not going anywhere so its heating everything up. How do I stop this? Does anyone else have some sort of heat problem? If so what did you do to resolve it?

Depending on the kind of rad you've got, (full size-integra, half size-civic). There are a few things you could do. Run a second fan with the full size rad. Alluminum rads are a better way of keeping things cool also. Water wetter could be used too, to keep the temps down.

sorry jerd i was trying to help you get the integra back on the road...if it helps guys he is using T3/4 sorta small(we dont know the specs) and only on like 5psi it still gives off alot of heat..oh yeah ssauto mani if that makes any diff....

that does seem somewhat excessive. running really lean?
i know my manifold heat wrecked my hoods paint. it was fine..turbo the car..and it got "chicken feet " all right over where the manifold sits..thats about it for me though. it didnt melt anything.

I just wrapped the manifold and down pipe with exhaust heat wrap. Under hood temps went right down and nothing gets hot now. You can put your hand on the manifold!
Thanks for all the input guys. Ill try some of the ideas and see if it solves my problem. Ive heard that SSautochrome manifolds are not supposed to be wrapped so I am a little skeptical. Has anyone done this? If so let me know how it worked out.
I ended up buying some thermo-tec cool-it insulating sheets ant I am goint to attach it to the under side of my hood. So hopefully it will help.
That wll stop the hood getting hot but will increase the under hood temp more because the heat carnt get out through it. please correct me if im wrong.
You are probably correct I am just doing this to keep the paint on my hood for now I am going to install another fan also to help disipate the heat.
You can try taking the rubber seals off the under side of the hood. This will let more air pass under the front edge over the engine and out of the back.
I installed a second radiator fan on a switch so i can run it all the time and it seems to be helping alot. Tahnks for the ideas though.
Ive got no room in mine for that but ive managed to keep the full length radiater which causes a lot of problems with space as i had to mod the exhaust mani because the turbo was about 3" forward of where the radiater sits. Ive got no heat problems but have no room., just fitting my catch can was a problem.
the only reason he doesnt wrap the mani is because alot of ppl on here have had problems cracking the ssauto mani especially when they wrap it.
