Default Intake manifold pros/cons?

I have a 5th gen civic coupe with a greddy turboed gsr and was looking at either a jg or skunk2 manifold. I was told that with a skunk manifold there were noticable heat increases on the exhaust side. Can anyone confirm or shoot down this myth. If it is true, is it also true of other manifolds, jg, str etc

I'm no intake manifold specialist, but I'd say go with the big square drag manifolds, well if you have the money. They have shown to offer the best gains and airflow.

I mean look at Cheesefrog's setup

how much power are you planning to put down?

If you are shooting for below 250whp then stick with your stock or use Skunk2.

If you are shooting for over 300whp then opt for the square ones or the Edelbrock one.

If you are shooting for anythign below 250whp and opt for the jg/edelbrock intake manifold, you'll be sorry.

skunk2 is good for mid to high range power with low to high boost.

edelbrock mani's are better suited for high hp cars. (>300whp)

My hp goal is 300, Right now I would guess I'm putting down between 220 and 230 whp, I haven't dynoed it to know for sure. I've got plans to build the block and up the boost, but for now I want to upgrade the manifold and throttle body. I have just been hesitant becaust I've been told that heat can get out of control...enough to where there may be internal damage.

This combination managed to make 372 WHP at 9 lbs of boost pressure, but of course i would recommend 1 pt lower compression for most streetable power (more boost pressure)

83mm 10:1 coated arias pistons
crower rods
stock gsr crank w/oem honda bearings
stock gsr head with skunk 2 springs and retainers
Jotech cam gears
stock gsr cams
JG Edelbrock intake manifold
72/70mm Ericks t/b
MSD 72lb injectors (soon to be upgraded to 1000cc)
Aeromotive fuel pump and regulator with sump on tank
Speed pro ems
MSD digital 6
Full-Race manifold
Precision sc61 with "S" compressor cover
3" downpipe w/v-band adaptor
custom 3" stainless exhaust
XS Engineering 24x11x3 intercooler
2.5" aluminum intercooler piping

Sounds like jg is the way to go for streetable power...I guess I'm taking that as a "no" aftermarket intake manifolds to not increase exaust temperatures on forced induction cars....

JG or STR, that's basically all we use on our built FI setups... Just my $0.02, Good Luck
