Intake manifold for boosted sohc?
anyone make a manifold that would flow well for a boosted sohc? i heard skunk2 mite be coming out with one but i haven't been able to find any info on it yet. i kno the y8 manifold would bolt on, but what kind of gains would i be looking at? are there any other issues i would have to address when getting a new manifold? beside taking care of fuel for the increased airflow (i'm already running rich anyway). thanks alot.

the d16y8 is considered the "type R" intake manifold for SOHCs. It has short, fat single plane runners, and a big plenum. That may help in the time you have to wait for a Aftermarket one. Edelbrocks manifold is very similar to stock Type R. This one would probably be close to the d16y8 one.
pengo go to my site and see if you like anything

on that page focuz and top speed both have for the SOHC i dont think HP has for the SOHC but i can double check that

JG is going to be releasing a Victor X model for the sohc motors. In the booklet the release date is sometime in 2003.
They also have a turbo kit made for the sohc's both of which I seen it personally @ Sema. (I will post pics later when I get them back)
I also seen the Skunk2 intake manifold too.

The Edelbrock and Skunk2 D series intake manifolds were at SEMA. I will link my pictures of them from imagestation. I didn't like some of the features of the Skunk2 manifold. The Skunk one has bosses for both the 92-95 and 96-00 fuel rails, which is probably fine for the 92-95, but I would think the bosses for the 92-95 would get in the way of the 96-00 fuel rail. The IAC pad on the Skunk manifold had the bolt going right in the air passage for the IAC, I would think the car would have idle problems, it looked pretty bad.
Neither company had any performance figures on the manifolds, which makes me think that neither of them are finished.
The throttle cable bracket bosses are also in different locations, so I don't know how the Skunk manifold will work around that. The Edelbrock manifold is only for the 96-00, and has the air-injection for the 99-00 EX models.

yea, some dyno numbers would be kinda nice. i guess if i'm cheap i can do a GSR TB, Y8 manifold combo and see how it does. some of those manifolds are pretty expensive....i could prob invest that money on a pair of drag radials. keep us updates on when those manifolds come out!
