While I have my car apart I guess I should get a Intake Mani
It comes down to Venom, GE Mfg., or JG.
I'm leaning towards Venom only because it is a turbo app. and the Venom plenumn is gigantic.
I'm just lookin for some constructive critisizm and/or first hand expieriences.

like ekb18c said how much power
for anything mid ragne skunk 2 will work great up to around 9500rpm range
anything higher most people are going with the JG unit.

i'm shooting for 220-250 whp.

unless you are planning to run those numbers NA and with a 10,000+ rev limit, then stick with the skunk2 manifold.

If ur shootin for 250whp and thats it, get the cheapest one; which will suit ur needs fine..If u plan on makin more power later down the road, I would go for one of the sheet metal IM...

well if you wanna make more power down the road i wouldnt buy a sheetmetal intake just yet. you will lose alot of mid range power for the setup you have now with the size of the plenum on those

Mid range loss is minimal but high RPM gains are significant...This way you will be prepared for higher boost later down the road without having to invest in a new manifold...
What motor is this? Why not give the AEBS manifold a shot, its cheaper than skunk2. Even if it made the same or similar power, it is still cheaper. I cant wait to see dyno charts on that manifold.

that's what i was thinking but they only make them for b16 and b18c5 heads.
Not to hijack the thread, but i hate to make a new post... b18b head im shooting for 320whp... will skunk2 do or will i need to go with a sheetmetal design liek the str or venom? im looking for 4000-7500 rpm gains here

Mase was using the Skunk2 IM on his B18B and was putting down that much power... I'm in the same boat, just dreading that Skunk2 install, heard its a bitch because of fitment issues... Last thing I need is to be without a car for a few days waiting on some stupid washer

For 220-250hp, I'd suggest sticking with your stock intake manifold and using that money for something that will offer a better ROI.
The intake manifold should be one of your last upgrades to squeeze every possible amount of power out of your engine.

My LS venom is 4x4x??? But now its a little larger and actually a little round due to a no2 backfire from the previous owner. He says it dyno'd more power cause of this, lol.

I heard you can modify a IM such as the type -r etc for a b18b. i havea picture of it somewhere where it was done. I dont' believe the difference is that big?

Endyn... It's the same as modding an M62 blower for the LS, http://www.theoldone.com has step by step instructions on how to do that

there is definitely a huge misconception among intake manifolds......bigger is not always better. the sheetmetal style intake works great for high hp numbers and high revs. you have to have one to push all that air. for under say, 400 to the wheels, it is just overkill and i have seen dyno plots that show it. but hey, get whatever you want, but remember, just because you spend $800 on a sheetmetal intake doesn't mean your going to get any more hp than a skunk2/type r.....its up to the set up, tuner, etc.......
