Re: intake fans (GudeH23a)
Well, uhm... heh... ahhhhh... I tried one. *runs and ducks*
I worked at a marina at the time and sorta borrowed a bilge blower fan for my project. It took about five minues to duct tape to my intake and hard wire to the battery. The fan says it'll flow 500 CFM, and my engine, a Z6, will only need 177 CFM at 7000 RPM. I also have a boost gauge in the car because I had a turbo (sold to afford classes)...
So anyway... I go take the thing to my favorite dyno- my butt dyno. In a nutshell, I saw 0.5 lb. of boost and a slight increase in power while in VTEC. It wasn't enough to make me go "whoa!" but more like, "no ****... it actually is doing something!" It didn't make enough of a difference for me to leave it in and be laughed at, so I took it out.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
