Default intake/charge pipe size

what is a good size for my intake size on my d16y8 i am running 8psi and have 3" pipe on it right now but im thinking i may have gone to big

you can do 2" or 2.25" or 2.5" from the turbo the ic, and i would do 2.5" from the ic to the tb

around 3500 and 4000 but its not smoth its like yank your head off because all of the sudden 8 pounds flood the pipes and your off
