Default Injector Pulse Dampner

I was reading this thread (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1433433) about mounting your FPR on the fuel rail and it brought to my mind a interesting question... what negative effects are there to running a fuel system like this with no pulse dampner?

I know AEM's manual for their EMS talks about the pulse dampner and it's importance...

Any input?

The pulsation dampener just tries to keep the fuel at an even pressure throughout the rail, it tries to eliminate pulsing obviously. I have seen cars run without them, my last car did not have one on and it was just fine.

I understand what it does and I also know people that have run without it, I'm just wondering if anyone knows adverse effects of not running one. I don't have it in front of me right now but I remember reading thru the AEM EMS basics book a while ago and seem to recall it stressing the importance of this in a properly designed fuel system.

I had a feeling you already knew what it was, but didn't hurt to throw it out there anyway.

I am pretty sure I have read the same thing that you have. I think it is in one of the AEM manuals. It think it just wants each injector to get the same pressure, so the pulse widths and flow of the injectors don't warry. That is what I would think.

This is taken right from the AEM basics.

Many vehicle manufacturers use a pulse dampener to reduce the pulsations in the fuel rail caused by the opening and closing of the injectors (a dampener also reduces the noise of the injectors). In applications where a new fuel system must be installed, a fuel pressure dampener is integral to ensuring consistent fuel flow to the injectors.

Yep thats exactly it

Basing on what they are saying about keeping consistent fuel flow I wonder if there is the possibility of leaning cyls out for a split sec...

Again I've seen cars ran without it -- we even ran without it in a Pro All-Motor car I used to tune with no adverse effects that we could see... I was just hoping someone would have some input into it from their research/testing...

What does a stock honda do? Does the rubber fuel lines keep the pulses down?

The stock honda rail has a pulsation dampener on it.

You know the nut thing with the plastic cap on the end of the rail that holds your fuel line on? That's what we're talking about....
