Individual Coils per Spark Plug
the 7tth gen civics have individual coils per spark plug. Is there much benefit to this system? If so, could this system be torn out and used on a 6th gen civic?
similar setup like the TEC III sds systems where they use distributorless ignitions. they are based on the crank sensor and it fires based on that.
Heh my 95 Ranger 2.3l had a distributorless and it was slow as **** so it's not always a benefit. It was actually slower than my sotck 1.6 DX.

There might be some benefit at very high revs, compared to the stock distributor system.
electromotive has a distributorless ignition system on the market (HPX I think?) try http://www.electromotive-inc.com and have a gander

good luck making it work. Im sure you could, you'd just have to change the wiring over so you can use the 7g ecu. There are some benefits for sure, like stronger spark, and more accurate firing. Since the motor no longer has to turn the distributor, thats one less bit of load on it.
Its all based in the ECU. You set your crank trigger either on your cam or your crank and it bases your timing on that. You adjust the timing in the ecu to accorging level.
