impressions of walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump install and noise level
Super easy install. Took about 20 minutes. However I was concerned about the whine some flpeople had reported as load and annoying. Well, at idle you can hear it, but on the highway and driving around town it's drowned out by road noise and exhaust note. I can't even tell it's there.

I love the pump...
...but mine whined like a 2 year old.
The problem is exacerbated on a delSol because the fuel pump cover is 9" from your ear. All I did to fix it was put 2 layers of dynamat scraps over the cover (they were about 12" square each). I had to trim them to get them to cover the cover properly, but it now sounds the stock pump.
Other than that it is a great product.

The Walbro is a QUIET unit. I don't even hear it at all. But if you have your rear seats removed then it might be a little loud. But even without the rear seats, it is not as loud as inline fuel pumps mounted on the firewall

I had the GSS342 in my old Civic and that thing was annoying. I could hear it pretty loud at idle and when cruising through the mountains with the windows down.
It's kind of a crapshoot, I think. I know a couple of people with GSS317/GSS342 pumps that were quiet. I know a couple who got loud ones.
I guess it comes down to preference and whether or not your passenger constantly complains about it.

I had one in my 4g Prelude. It was as quiet as a stock pump as long as you had the back seats in. I just bought another one to put in my hatch.

I don't think mine is too loud at all. At least it doesn't sound like a Blazer or S10 fuel pump (ie: sounds like the door buzzer is always on). I would highly recommend it!

Was a 3g teg with about a 1/8 tank left. Yeah I took my rear seats out (they're still wet from torential rains) and I could barely hear it. I guess I lucked out.

Mine isnt bad at all. It might be a little less noisy because of the upgraded 6an ss line I used.
However, I can hear the fuel pulsating from the aeromotive log fuel filter that I have mounted to my firewall.
