i love motorcycles and i love going fast. running 10's in my civic is fun. period. but going fast on a bike is not like going fast in a car. it is much easier to do and much more dangerous. i have owned many bikes including a 99 gsxr750 and a 98 yamaha R1. i ran on the track and with many idiots in the dc area. topped the r1 out at 181(digital speedometer). owning a bike is an incredible responsibility. unfortunatly many people i associated with learned that the hard way. i often found myself doing things on the bike i never would have originally planned on doing. think twice about owning a sportbike. if you do not have a tremendous amount of self control, do yourself and your loved ones a favor, don't get one. i laugh on here(honda tech) when people fight about street racing off a light. with a sportbike you will do wheelies at 80+mph, go well over 150 mph, run from police, etc................and you will crash. everyone with a bike crashes. everyone. its just a matter of you taking a little spill or hitting a gaurdrail at 100+ mph and decappitating yourself............don't laugh, i've seen it happen.

bikes are fun but i'd stick with your car. i consider myself lucky to have ridden the bikes i've ridden and to have walked away.............
ditto

I've also thought about getting a sport bike, not that much sport maybe a 600 or something. I just want to have fun riding the speed limit, breaking no laws and saving gas as I commute to work. Do you think that would be a problem? Should I not get one for those reasons? I am serious.
