I'm leaving the Darkside this weekend...
...and saving up for a sportbike. Every reason there is for turboing your car, (to be faster, to get the ladies, etc) minus the BOV... a sportbike can do better and cheaper. Turbo comes off this week.
expect to see my turbo kit for sale the following week.

Haha, you try to use a turbo to pick up chicks? Man, you need to take that thing off right away and check yourself in somewhere, if you know what I mean!
Sushibug,
Hey listen, Ive thought long and hard about getting a bike, I actually work for a Suzuki Shop here in Jville when im home from college. I dont know where you live and how the traffic is, but in gainesville where i go to school, the traffic is freakin crazy, and I'm not even stupid enough to own a bike there. I see busted up bikes and messed up people everyday, and I dont know if you have ever had road rash, but boy does it suck. 7 out of 10 people that are experienced riders, have ended up wrecking at some point. Please be careful if you do get a bike, Its very dangerous. I could go on and on, You probably know plenty about riding, but people just dont see you, My buddy let me borrow his TL 1000 for a weekend, and even riding during the day with my brights on, and even being a bright *** yellow bike, people will pull right out in front of you, it sucks, he just got in a wreck last week, a lady ran a stop sign, and he endo'd it and slid into the car...luckily she stopped and didnt run him over. Man, just be careful. If you arent an experienced rider, please take a Rider's course, they are like $200 here, but they will save your life if you ever get in a jam......anyways enough being a dad. Take care, and By the way, what kind of bike are you looking at getting?

honda makes a good engine, but nothing out there will touch a Gixxer 1000, time and time again does it spank everything out there.

daym man... u serious? alot of people are startin to get out of it. hmmm...
I'm leaving too, but am planning on a return someday. I sold my 95 Coupe this week and am picking up a 94 Hatch with a B16 already installed. It will be nice to have some peace of mind for a change...
A sportbike alone won't get you the ladies, it depends on your attitude as well
<------- Head: who used to own a CBR1100XX, but never had to worry about beating off the ladies with a stick because of it.

well out here in NYC a sport bike will get you ***...hot chicks flock to bikes like ants to a sugar cube....Yamaha R1's are popular as hell....yeah expensive bikes..DAMN drug dealers.
Man, I sold my CBR600F to get the turbo. Much more fun to hunt the quick bikes with a fast car, the bikers can't believe a car can hang on with them
Personally, I would love to cruise around in a crotch rocket. Unfortunatly, I don't think I'm responsible enough to always wear leathers, or even jeans in the heat of the summer.
I've seen road rash up close and it ain't pretty
Solution...get a bike for strictly drag purposes
Now to find a cheap project bike...

going fast on a bike and going fast in a car are two different things, u will never be able to replace one with the other.. why dont u keep everything and just save up for a bike? then u can have both worlds.
i love motorcycles and i love going fast. running 10's in my civic is fun. period. but going fast on a bike is not like going fast in a car. it is much easier to do and much more dangerous. i have owned many bikes including a 99 gsxr750 and a 98 yamaha R1. i ran on the track and with many idiots in the dc area. topped the r1 out at 181(digital speedometer). owning a bike is an incredible responsibility. unfortunatly many people i associated with learned that the hard way. i often found myself doing things on the bike i never would have originally planned on doing. think twice about owning a sportbike. if you do not have a tremendous amount of self control, do yourself and your loved ones a favor, don't get one. i laugh on here(honda tech) when people fight about street racing off a light. with a sportbike you will do wheelies at 80+mph, go well over 150 mph, run from police, etc................and you will crash. everyone with a bike crashes. everyone. its just a matter of you taking a little spill or hitting a gaurdrail at 100+ mph and decappitating yourself............don't laugh, i've seen it happen.
bikes are fun but i'd stick with your car. i consider myself lucky to have ridden the bikes i've ridden and to have walked away.............

I was pretty convinced to get a motorcycle, but having known two people personally who died in the last 6 months and not even from wreckless riding I've thought twice about it.
If you're not worried too much about your own life, think think about the people close to you and what it would to them if something happened to you. It's not always just about yourself...

i'm pretty set on getting a bike and i think (or i at least hope) that i will be smart enough to live through it and enjoy bike riding. fyi im getting a cbr600.
Hmm, if you're getting a bike to be fast and get chicks I would step back and think things over before you (get one and) hurt yourself. Bikes are fun, trust me I know. I'm on my 5th street bike
But like someone else mentioned you have to have a *lot* of responsibility and self control. Not knowing what you're doing on a bike will get in painful trouble really quick. I've known plenty of people who go out and buy bikes and crash months after getting them because they are stupid, showing off for girls (yes my good friend crashed doing this
), not knowing how to properly stop, not being aware of your surroundings, etc. A friend of mine was killed a few weeks ago out here because he was being *stupid*, not because he was a bad rider, he was a great rider in fact. Just goes to show anything can happen at any time, and when "it" does happen you are going to get hurt, if not dead. It's something you have to face everytime you ride. You kind of have to wager the consequences against how much you love to ride. Most new riders see riding as going out, buying a new bike without knowing how to ride, throwing on their hat backwards and cruising the "spots". (Just generalizing from observations of local riders). I'm not trying to discourage you, just telling you how it is from my point of view.
If you've never ridden a street bike before I would *highly* recommend taking a riding class like the MSF. And don't skimp out on gear either, atleast wear a helmet everytime you ride. If you can afford it get a leather jacket right away and some high quality gloves. If I didn't have gear on the couple times I've crashed I would be a rashy mess with a nasty face. And remember the famous cliche, there are those riders who have crashed, and those who have not yet crashed
