I'm going to kill it, I really am. Mani + Turbo = wtf?
So I bolted up my turbo and manifold originally to look like this:
Go to put it on and wth, if i put it on this way the Downpipe shown below would be firing through my hood...not real cool.
As you can see the exhaust side of the turbo needs to be on the left side. So I take the thing back apart and rearrange it all pretty so it now looks like this:
Go to put it in and Whoa...no way in hell that is going to work...the collector side is pointing and almost hitting metal...as you can kind of see below...the far right side, just follow the bolt pattern you know what i mean.
So, i'm looking for advise on how to make this damn thing work. Exhaust Has to go on the left side, and i'm using the Drag Piping Kit. From my understanding you are supposed to use the 90 degree bend tube (from the left i'm guessing again) to the filter.
Was my downpipe made to fit the wrong side?
Will I ever get this even bolted up?

That sucks, really bad.
There go my chances of getting this done while on leave.

Re: (warwagon)
the downpipe wont work mang
and no way in hell your getting the manifold, i had to wait like 3 months for it.
i'll sell you the downpipe for what it costs me to buy a new one though.
it was made by cody (lovefab) and is stainless steel.

Re: (b18bturbo)
The only way i see this working is if i twist the compressor side to be facing up instead of down...and then get some pipe made for the filter.
The last few pics do show the turbo reversed..that is how it is now.

Re: (phreakmang)
compressor side when put on like shown is going directly into that circled spot if it was not obvious.
so can i just turn the compressor side to face up and has some piping made to go over top my manifold and into the filter?

Re: (SPOON_BeIgHtEeNsEe)
even if i got rid of the a/c i would still have to get pipe made...so mise well either
a. get a new downpipe
b. get some custom pipe made
what i'm asking if it's ok to run the compressor facing upwards and fabricate some piping to run across the top of my manifold or somewhere else into the filter?

Re: (phreakmang)
run an open dp out the hood...would look badass
just kidding, you can run the compressor up if you'd like, but keep in mind that you might not want to run your new pipe near the manifold...heat exchange may be a concern?

Re: (jmagner)
how long does the pipe have to be that runs to the filter. could i point the compressor upwards and just use a short lil pipe then the filter?

run the compressor on the driver's side and clock the compressor housing to wherever you need it to be. any pipng for a LoveFab manifold is going to have to be custom. Custom manifolds require custom piping. If you ditch the a/c and clock the compressor to point 7 or 8 o'clock then you should be able to run pipe down and around to the fmic. Not sure how much hood clearance you'd have if you clocked it to 12 o'clock and ran the pipe up and over like I had to with the Excalibur.

cody made that manifodl to fir the turbo on the other side, prob misunderstanding. anwaysy you're going to have to get a completey new downpipe. or have soemone do some MAJOR modifications for it. if you wanna send me your manifold i can make you a downpipe that will fit.
i cannot gaurantee that i can amke it fit 100% with AC. by that i mean i cannot gaurantee i can make you a 2.5 to fit with the ac compressor. however when im finished it WILL fit.
cuz it looks like the flange is more towards the center than it is offset to alllow AC, however im sure it can be done. maybe not with a 2.5 but a 2.25 at worst.
if you want a downpipe made, i can offer you a mild steel./aluminized for 150$ plus shipping.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought the drag piping requires the compressor of the turbo to be facing the passenger side. So even if you got the turbo to fit properly facing the driver side of the car, what about the pipe that goes to the intercooler from the turbo?
Solution : Get a new DP
