Im in the boost!
I FINALLY got her installed!
Deeyam...first I wrecked my auto...and I finally got the turbo installed on the GSR...and the guy helping with the install and teaching me how to tune has done a great job...on my 92 GSR im starting spool around 2000 RPMs and getting around 10 PSI within 500 rpms...like I said, my tuner is awesome...but my deltagate seems to be boosting to all hell and high heaven, no matter where I install the vacuum lines...correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the boost go in the side, and the top (vacuum) stays open to atmosphere? Like I said...10 PSI is a little much for me : )
The intercooler piping was a PITA, and so was the fuel system...does anyone here run a paxton 1:1 rising rate FPR? Why is it that everyone runs FMUs? It seems like you would be getting way too much fuel with a 12:1 Vortech...we swapped mine out and its for sale if anyone wants one. Paxton is in now, along with an AEM fuel rail.
If anyone wants any work done in washington state, let me know and ill put you in touch with a friend of mine.
What do you guys think I will hit, whp, with 8 PSI full 3" exhaust/DP, 2.5" intercooler piping, and a 28"x10"x4" intercooler? LxHxW
Damn wastegate...I cant even get above 4k rpms!

Re: Im in the boost! (Dravis)
So yo are not running a FMU at all? what is your fuel setup? I have a 92 LS with a B16 and a turbo. I am running a 12;1 FMU with stock injectors right now

The reason you have to run the 12:1 fmu w/ stock inj. is because you have to raise the fuel pressure to push the fuel through the small stock injectors.

Re: Im in the boost! (89hybrid)
Yeah im aware of the fuel issue : )
I prefer a rising rate FPR to an FMU because of the overkill fuel pressure you get with a 12:1 FMU.
We also figured out the problem: Stock injectors and 9-10 psi dont mix on a bigger, better flowing motor. Not to mention a large effecient turbo. You can get away with stock injectors on a SOHC non VTEC at 10 psi with a greddy turbo...but not a 1.7L DOHC VTEC and a T3/T4 monsta. We are buying 310cc injectors today to take car of that.
We expect around 270 whp out of this car. My tuner rocks. But now im poor : )
Any questions that you have, let me know.

what's up? i got a gen2 GSR turbo'd too...what system did you go with or is it custom? i went with drag gen II which is only running 3psi due to my wastegate...boost controller on the way from importparts.com...dunno what i'll set the boost at tho...later.

Re: Im in the boost! (B17aTURBO)
Your fuel setup is not going to work. I would put the FMU back in asap or you might be needing some new pistons.
The stock Honda FPR is a 1:1 rise rate FPR. The Paxton, AEM, Vortech FPRs are 1:1 rise rate FPRs, they are just adjustable and can flow more fuel.
Yes, fuel pressure (at the rail) increases 1 psi per pound of boost, but this DOES NOT increase fuel delivery. Remember, when you are under boost, the manifold is pressurized! This means that you must increase fuel pressure to get the exact same amount of fuel; It is all about pressure differential... Positive pressure in the manifold would prefer if the fuel STAYED in the rail when the injectors open... you need to increase fuel pressure to change its mind.
You need a 12:1 FMU and a high pressure inline fuel pump. That intank walbro cannot hang with the high pressures necessary to drive a 12:1 FMU at 7-8psi. DEFINATELY not at 10psi. You need to get the boost back down to 7-8psi.
Stock injectors are fine for 7-8psi. If you are worried about super high fuel pressures, get some 310cc injectors and an 8:1 or 10:1 disc for the FMU depending on the efficiency of your setup (how much hp you are making, etc) Make sure you are not leaning out before you run the motor hard.

Re: Im in the boost! (Arturbo)
That said, Dravis - you will most likely blow up, break, or melt some critical part of your engine running stock OR 310 cc injectors on a 1:1 fuel pressure ratio. It probably feels fast now because it's running really lean. Great for momentary power but watch for smoke and scary noises in the near future.
Oh and by the way Rising Rate FPR = FMU... FMU is just another name for the same thing. If you get into a debate over which is better you will sound very silly.
