Default I'm back!!!

Well, I put away the honda for a few years and didn't touch it. Well, I drove it every month or so around the block. Anyway, I was focusing on getting out of college, getting a job and buying a house. Now that I have finally completed all those tasks, I am finally going to tear into the CRX again.

What I feared has happened, I cam back to a whole slew of company names that I have never heard of.

Heres the plan, going to do it right. I will get a list of what I have but here is the basics.

Stock B16
S1 tranny
Turboedit
DSM 450s (cleaned)
Shorty SS mani
Garrett T3/T04E .63 a/r 60 trim stg 3 wheel (90% sure...)
2.5" custom mandrel charge pipes
large johnny race car FMIC (old school )
GSR cams
AEM cam gears
can't remember everything

Anyway, I am going to pull the motor and build it.

I need to find a good place to sleeve the block. Back in the day I was going to send it to golden eagle or maybe buy a dart block but who knows whats the best these days.

Rods, was thinking eagle H-beams but Have heard lots of new names lately.

Pistons...CP

Bearings...ACL

Rings, totalseal

I want to find a routy *** turbo cam (don't car about idle)

Valvetrain- was going to do portflow outers and ITR inners (maybe opposite?)with Ti-retainers but who knows now.

turbo... defenatly ball bearing. It will be a high revving (9000-ish) top end motor so it can be big but it’s a CRX so it still needs to fit. GT35R comes to mind but I could be way off

Car has a trackbar set-up, tokico 5-ways and eibach sportlines (will swap out with coilovers because my slicks hit the fenders)

Anyway, this time around I will be shooting for 500+ whp.

I will be getting an LS cable tranny with an LSD….

The car has the competition 4 puck ceramic sprung-hub and holds great.

Oh, and it has a walbro 255HD

OK, folks any new super awesome new products out there? I have always wanted to do an equal length but never had the money.

I will be searching too but I just thought I would check in and get some initial suggestions.

Thanks guys, I got my car out and drove it about 30 miles last weekend and realized what I was missing…silly explosive boost.

Wow, this is like uncovering a relic. I am slowing remembering all this stuff. This was my primary H-T account.

Well I'd definitely avoid the LS tranny, get bigger injectors because 450's won't cut it by any means, switch to OBD1 and go with far better management like Neptune, Ectune or even Crome Pro, and some GSR or ITR cams.

You stated two different turbos in your post, but if your for ball bearing the 35r is a pretty good choice, but a 3076 may be a little better for your power goals while spoolin a little more quickly. A shorty manifold might hold you back a tad for 500whp. Johnny Racecar left the country. Oh yeah...and I sell the best manifolds on the planet now....lol....JK. That may be full race but hey...I'm cheaper and still pretty damn good.

Just some opinions though...definitely get up to speed on whats happenin these days.

what's wrong with the ls tranny? I like how short the gearing is in mine but it seems too short at times. add a couple hundred more hp in there and it seems silly. however I am running an open diff as well so that could be a problem. anyway, my S1 is grinding 3rd again and I am looking to upgrade bu still be able to retain my fw/ clutch setup.

I was thinking about using some RC 750's as well.

Manifold...I want a topmount that will fit in an EF with HASport mounts (most room up front). I have a 92 radiator so there is a little more room but not much.

as for the turbo, I would like it to be able to hit 500 whp but have the headroom to go up to 600-650 should I decide to. that seems to be a whole different league but who knows.

thanks for the response.

this post was made from my phone so sorry about the grammar.

Well, I have an S1 in it now (4.10 XSi tranny) so I suppose I will just leave it in there. I had it resynchro'ed and bearing'ed once but the 3rd gear grind never went away. Someone told me what it was a few years back but I forgot what the part was.

Yeah, the gear spacing in the LS's suck. I threw my delsol together late last year with a 30r and an LS tranny. Like Rota said, it's ehhh....it's fast, but a GSR tranny is a huge difference.

The numbers your talking about are really mixed. Your flirting with fuel system limitations at 600 or so whp. You'd have to look into more fuel pump or a dual walbro, which currently isn't available for ef's yet. Your also exceeding the ability of pump gasoline, unless your running E85, at which point you need way more injector to hit those numbers.

Topmounts are capable, but have proven laggy for certain setups. For the street, sometimes a slightly shorter runner bottom mount mani might prove a little better for you and recover some midrange. Don't get caught up in the ricer attraction of a topmount unless it's really needed.....JMO.

35R is probably the option you want to go with to get into the 600's since your set on a full ball bearing turbo.

Cool thanks. This car is not going to be a daily driver. In fact, it will not go to the track all that much. It is primarily going to be a giggles car.

I would like to run it on E85 but I have not read up on what is necessary to run the E85. I have heard a little bit, including you can't have any rubber fuel lines, it has to be metal blah blah. I will have to research that when I decide to pursue that.

I am thinking that a GT35R "ramhorn' may be the way I go. I think I will have to be running closer to 1000cc injectors but I will have to crunch some numbers.

I think for what I want to do with the car, 500-550 whp will be more than enough to create a highway terrorizer. I will stick with my S1 tranny unless I find nice LSD cable tranny. I have always wanted to use one of those hydro conversions but I don't have to space for the piece.

Anyways, I like the evans tuning parts alot. They look fantastic.

OK, here is the 'i could have searched this' question...

As for a block, I think I am going to order another longblock...maybe a GSR or maybe a B16. Anyways, I want to send it off and have it sleeved. Who is doind the best sleeves these days that don't sink, etc and what are they running in price.

Thanks guys, I am getting pretty pumped about getting back into the scene.

My car runs on E85...stock fuel lines, stock tank. Ethanol has been in gasoline since the late 80's, so rubber materials in contact with fuel have been formulated to tolerate ethanol. E85 is a great fuel...smells better...has higher octane...and hey, no hillbillies can call me a riceburner cause I'm burnin me some corn...

You really don't need anything to run e85 other than a fuel system capable of flowing 35% or so above what you'd need running gasoline and of course engine management.

Cool, well I have a Walbro 255lph pump and will be buying new injectors for the new power goal. I was going to get RC 1000's but I may need a little bigger. However, I will max out my pump at abount 525 whp on E85 anyway...
