Ignition break up after 12psi - ?? - >>
Typically run 18psi on pump. Been running fine for a few years. Started breaking up around 12-13psi. Feels like misfires which is why I am thinking ignition break up.
Replaced plugs, same results.
What is the next logical problem. dizzy, ignitor, plugs?
thanks

Check the cap, rotor, and wires. It's always good to have a fresh cap and rotor every so often anyway.. If that doesnt fix the problem, coil and ignitor next. Unless it's possible you put some questionable fuel into it..
i had a simalar problem when id start to build higher boost my headgasket blew between cyl. 2 and 3 it ran fine just driven normal but if i got on it it would miss might check compression, just a thought
Check the gap on your pick up in the distributor, I have had same problem in past and tightened gap in distributor and problem went away. I always thought it was a boost issue but it was a rpm issue. For a test you could take your car up to redline without hitting boost and see if it breaks up at all.
Taking the car to redline (9500) does not break up out of boost. Plug gap is at .028, I typically dont need to go lower unless I run high boost. Do you think I should try .022?
I will look into the cap and rotor. It has been around 6,000 miles since I replaced it. I havent blow a headgaset in a while so wouldnt surprise me. I will check comp and leakdown and report back.
thanks

I forgot to post the results.
Anyway, cap and rotor let it go to about 14-15psi. After taking the gap to .024 it is back to normal. I think it was a combination of cap, rotor and plugs. They all looked fairly bad.
thanks for the suggestions..

tight gap is key in running higher boost/hp on stock ignition system.
i ran .020 gap making 425hp and 18 psi boost on some bkr7e's. never had a problem
