Idle Issue
I've got a 98 JRSC GSR that's having a flucuating idle problem. I've got a custom chipped p28 ecu. When the idle bounces I also hear this clicking noise that's coming from the EVAP solenoid. I found when I unplug the EVAP connector the idle stops bouncing and idle returns to normal. Anyhow know how I can fix this?
The TPS connector was checked and it is correct. Tried playing with the idle screw and the idle still bounces. The only way to stop it is unpluging the EVAP?

Could be your IAC Valve, but I don't know how that would relate to it stopping when you unplug your EVAP. Maybe your EVAP is bad since it stops when you unplug it. Not sure how EVAP's work.

Re: Idle Issue (Hoosier Daddy)
Sorry, I posted from my buddy's PC.
I checked the IAC and it's working fine. When you unplug it, the idle drops to around 500 but doesn't stall -- like it's suppose to.
I'm driving around without it plugged in and there's no problem. I don't get a CEL because I think the p28 doesn't check for an EVAP.. But why would this happen?
My tuner tried to restrict the flow in one of the EVAP hoses by connecting a smaller hose to restrict flow but that didn't work.
Is the EVAP constantly purging? or does it only purge when u start the car? It seems like it's stuck in a loop and it's somehow causing the idle to keep bouncing.

Leave the evap solenoid unplugged. There is some discussion on the hondata board about this issue. Go there and do a search.

Re: (DaX)
thanks..
I found 2 threads on it. Basically they are experiencing the same problem as I am and unplugging the EVAP fixed their problem as well. The only conclusion I can draw is obd2 b18c1's with obd1 p28's don't like evaps.
Anyone running an obd2 b18c with an obd1 p72 ecu and have an idle problem related to EVAP?

Re: (BringIT)
I have a '99 GSR with a JRSC at 11psi. When I put my Hondata on and got it tuned, I disconnected the purge cut solenoid. This is what Matt from Hondata told me to do. Unplug that bastard, I'm also using the P28 ECU also. Unplug it and drive it, your fine.
