IACVs keep breaking on boost..
ok so my IACV keeps breaking on my boosted b18 itr. (running 1.25bar boost)
i have gone through 4 of these now, they dont last longer than a week and basicly either get stuck open or stuck closed. they stop responding to the ectune adjustments.. but replace it will a new one and it works again..
took one apart and theres a little shiny silver sprung shim or something that was broken into 2, not sure if its this that keeps failing because of the boost pressure pushing the valve open with too much force than what its designed for perhaps..? i dont know..
anyone had this problem?
ive made an inch thick spacer plate to move the iacv away from the intake and made the holes in the spacer very small, to see if it reduces the pressure entering the valve, not sure if it will make any difference but theres no harm in trying..
any suggestions welcome!

I know this isn't a permanent fix, but have you thought about just blocking it off, removing the idle screw, and just tightening the throttle cable a bit?
You would obviously need to remote mount the iacv somewhere and keep it plugged into the harness, otherwise you will throw a CEL. Theres also the option of tuning the IACV out of the ECU...

hey mate
thats how it is running at the moment (idle set by throttle bodie) however the car obviously only idles when fully warmed up, not on cold starts which is very annoying as the car is a daily.
i would like to get to the bottom of this problem, as i find it strange how loads of people have turbo B-series and still run the stock IACV and have no problems.. and yet i seem to be the only one
