I need Help With My Setup!!!!! help with compression, bore and rods.
Hey H-T I am planning on building my engine and I wanted to know what should I expect out of this setup??? I also have questions about some things. As of now I have a GSR block and B16 head and its running very high compression. I was going to break every thing down and sell all the all motor parts and buy new pistons and rods and ACL race bearings. Its a 12:1 or 12:5 as I was told buy the person I bought the car from. My question is what is the stock bore on A GSR and what should I get my engine bored to. That Also brings the question what size pistons should I get? I know I at least want 9:1 pistons just dont know what size like 81.5mm or 84-84.5mm??? I am looking for around 450-500 hp. The turbo I will be running will be a 60-1. 3 inch downpipe. I want a ramhorn but is it possible to hit mt HP number with a log? And the last question is what rods should I get H-Beam or I-Beam?
Thanks Brandon
Thanks Brandon

Re: I need Help With My Setup!!!!! help with compression, bore and rods.
stock bore on all b's are 81mm.
i think your compression is a little high, it can be done but you will need race fuel all the time. to achieve your goal on pump, you will need somewhere in the neighborhood of 9:1. if you are still 81mm, i would go 81.5mm. thats the normal .020 over piston.
you may be looking for a little much out of the log. the ram horn will be the way to go.
personally i have always used i beam rods. but thats just my personal exp.

there isnt much of a gain going over 9:1 compression in a turboed car, and the risk isnt really worth it. all tuners that ive talked to recomend 9:1 for turbo anyway.
