Default i have an ITS 50 trim 5 yrs old but i have never used it what should i expect?

i've heard different things about ITS its a t3t4 50 trim with a .48 hotside
could some people with actual experience or have seen close first hand experience what am i to expect
how reliable is it? it is oil and watercooled but it is not dbb it is 360 journal bearing

i originally was going to use it on my 1.8t vw but ive decided to go with a DBB turbo for it and in the future i plan to build a crx with a b17 would it be worth hanging on to this turbo for that i know the 50 trim would work well on it but the .48 i don't know how that would do on a b17 everyone says it would make it fall off but ive yet to see anyone try it so we REALLY DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD FALL OFF OR NOT SINCE I HAVE YET TO SEE IT everyone says it would fall ofor should i just sell it while its still new and cut my losses

and if you guys say sell where should i start the price at and what would the least you would take be

another option is trade it for a holset that could be used on the b17 or another turbo i can't think of another one that would be a good trade right off hand if you guys know of one let me know

What is the compressor side housing? I have a .48 ex .60 compressor on my b16 and the power doesn't fall off at the top.

Put it all in one topic then. Having 10 topics going at once doesn't make any sence.

If you kept the motor stock, the .48 would spool fast but not make a lot of top-end, which would suit the stock parts. A .63ar housing is not very expensive at all, you can find them used in good condition all the time.

I haven't had it dynoed but if power falls off your going to feel it for sure, atleast I did in my buddies car. Mine held 9psi strong all the way to 7900 redline. Best time was 14.0 trapping at 101.. I know with more seat time I would have a 13 sec time for sure.

ITS 50 trim turbo is similar to any other Garrett 50 trim using the same sized exhaust wheel. ITS used a combination of garrett, turbonetics, and Borg-warner parts that to me IMHO was an abomination.

well. My statement is a bit harsh. Its just that ITS had a real Hit-or-miss history with their larger turbocharger series because of their culimination. Hell, i've had a couple of bad turbo combos in my career, and we learn from it. I'm sure that the owners of ITS have done the same thing over time. The smaller applications like the 50 trim have had better results on average.

well hell i may give it a try
worst that could happen is the seals blow right?

and if that happened i could get it rebuilt to the specs of the custom 50 trims a guy over on the vw forums are offering

he's using a gt turbine wheel and its capable of a max of 500whp on a very efficient engine and if i was to get it i was going to get it with a DBB chra so it would kinda be inbetween a gt3071 and a gt3076
