The GReddy Kit is fine as long as the kit is complete. I'd go for that considering the power level you're going for and fitment.
But make sure that you get everything in the GReddy kit. It's a good setup for the D-series engines.

if youre comfortable buying a used motor that has been turboed, go for it. Its been rebuilt too? More room for error (i never buy assembled engines)
or buy the turbo kit alone, because 1200 won't get you far.. and honestly, if 1200 is all you have, you won't get a car running and tuned on 1200$

Turbo Honda civic crx del sol Engine with TONS of extras

-That's not the GReddy Intercooler piping kit or Intercooler, they used their own.
-Manifold is in good condition considering its age
-Turbocharger appearance seems normal.
If they aren't willing to negotiate to get just the "GReddy" parts and leave the rest, just get the GO-Autoworks and be done.

Id use that money and buy foreged internals for around 500$, your gona lose against stock cars with 200hp.. people like challenging the "little honda"
not to put you down ur plans or anything, but you might be disapointed.

The guy selling the Greddy stuff was a bust. I think I'm going to build something around the Garrett T25 I already have.

Those Vitara pistons really drop compression too low for the liking without the FJT (?) custom length rods. 7.4:1-7.8:1 compression from what I recall.
Stick to the tried and true and increase the budget. (You were going to whether or not you realized it, anyway). That way, you'll have a better platform to work with I'd you decide on a future build. I go with the BOCO mentality, really. But Once, Cry Once)

Nothing wrong with the low compression of the vitara pistons on standard length rods. I have them in a D16a6 which is the lowest compression of them all. I run 28psi from a Garrett 50 trim turbo on stock sleeves and pump 91 gas. No issues at all internally for 3 years now, 20k miles. Beaten literally daily, 11's at the track, 35mpg average commuting like a maniac. Under a grand in the engine.
Piece together your own kit, a T25 honestly is zero fun, they run out of breathe to early even on our engines.

There's nothing wrong if you're not concerned with off-boost acceleration rates, and being outside the efficiency curve of you 50 trim. What you have to run to get the power within boost pressure of over 2.5PRs of 28psi, I can do with a better higher static compression and only 20psi. The "issues" I'm stating aren't mechanical, they are combustion-chambered and efficiency related. World of difference in daily driving I'll tell you that.

The car is perfectly driveable off boost, I personally think its a myth and is exaggerated the actual difference having lower compression has. Vitaras are tried and true for well over 300hp. And op wants a simple 200whp setup, and is on a pretty tight budget. Vitara pistons, p2p rods, acl race bearings. $500, blocks done, laughs at 250hp

If you want to build a kit for that price, I'd piece it together.
My turbo "kit" has cost me about $250 CAD so far, maybe 500 to 600 when done?
Ebay turbo/eBay cast mani/450cc dsm blacktops/oil feed and drain off a HT member for about 160?? (Got it with a bunch of other stuff)
Turbo smart waste gate 45$
Hks ssqv will be 120 when I get it
Chipped ecu 50
Chip burner 20
Log cable $1
For you tho, I'd say spend maybe 300 to 500 on a decent manifold, same on a turbo, then try and hunt for good deals on the extras?

So I went in a totally different direction and went with the kit from the classifieds
- Greddy 18G w/ TurboSmart Actuator and ATP V-Band adapter:
- Almost ZERO shaft play, ALMOST.
- Will include all oil lines and fittings
- Could use a paint job.
- Greddy Intercooler Kit:
- The big one, forget the size.
- Some of the fins could be in better shape, but it still works fine.
- Charge piping included, could use a clean up.
HKS SSQV
- Edelbrock Cast Log Mani:
- Custom 3" Downpipe with V band turbo side/ 3 bolt pipe side:
Fuel:
- RC 750's:
- Walbro 255:
- AEM Fuel Rail (Black): w/ Marshall gauge
- AEM FPR (Black):
So yeah I'm probably going to have to beef up the block,

Ew internal wg but yeah sometimes yu can find it all together like that.
And yes, either bolt it on blow it up and then build it or build it and don't blow it up in the first place. Lol
Or, do why I'm doing. Buy a second block bolt turbo to current car, blow it up while building second block. Hopefully not until second block is ready but, yeah

Turbosmart internal gates are a great upgrade. I've done that on a newer project I'm starting.
The one originally from GReddy is just to limiting and doesn't allow enough opening of the gate.
Much better choice you've done here..

The only issue I can see is that this turbo is bigger than I had originally intended and the waste gate is at 10lbs. I'm not sure how this is going to work for staying around 200hp or what the stock internals can handle. I would like to get it on before winter and play around at low boost while I build a motor over the winter

I remember my older 7.8:1 CR DSM from several years back.. once we went to 9.8:1 with the same turbocharger, such a big difference.... Ah the old days.

Yeah I'd like to stay away from a Vitara build. While the price is attractive I'd really like to stay around stock compression. So now my search for pistons begins

does anyone have suggestions on forged pistons? I was going to go with supertech but it seems they only come in 10.5:1 and 8.8:1
