Default i-beams or h-beams ?

im about to go turbo soon and im doing some research on my setup im going to use and dont know which is better, h or i beam rods.

im going for 400hp on pump gas daily driver.

H-beams are fine for that power level, just make sure that they have good bolts on them. I'm using the Eagle H-beams with ARP bolts (I think all the new ones come with the ARP bolts) and have had no problems with them making 400+WHP on a B16. Also look at ARP stud kits for the head and main bearing caps.

I've heard that if you are going above 700HP, then don't use the Eagles, but that's just heresay as I've never tried it. IMO if you are going to be making over 700HP, then you should spend the extra $ and get the high-end Carillos, along with whatever other high-end products you can get to get it not to fly apart too quickly.

I know of a couple DSMs making 800 on boost and Nitrous revving over 9500 with Eagles. They seem to hold up pretty well.

I think process and material is more important then H vs I beam. Rods that are forged into shape then machined (Crower, Eagle, etc.) are a better choice then a billet rod just because of the metal grain structure in the cap area.

Anybody ever seen somebody bend a Eagle that wasn't tuning related? I haven't.

I say if this guy is going for a 400whp setup there is no reason to spend $200 extra on something he won't utilize.

H-beam rods generally cost much more than I-beam rods. We should thank Eagle for making H-beam rods at a decent price.
