I am getting the E-cutout for my turbo si
I am getting the E-cutout for my turbo si. I want to put the cut out right on the down pipe or right before the final bend to the exhaust. I want to have a quiet exhaust when the cutout is closed for normal driving. I already have a greddy evo exhaust and a 2.5" high flow cat ( holding the outer casing together with hose clamps). Would it be too restrictive even for crusing if i put my stock 2 1/4" cat. And if i do use the 2 1/4" cat would I then have to utilize 2 1/4'' downpipe? I am going to use a 3" cutout so when that is open I know it won't be restricted but my question is when it is closed would it be too restrictive with the stock cat for driving?
I'm really over my loud evo exhaust and want to eventually get the mugen axle back. Would the mugen twinloop axleback exhaust fit on my greddy piping so I wouldn't have to spend $900 for the whole thing?
Let me know what you all reccomend, thanks.

I really dont know where you are putting the cut out but the best place to do it is right infront of the cat. You WILL have a little leak so you will have to run a pipe from the cutout to the back of the car or the sides. If you have turbo it really helps you boost so much sooner. You will like it.

I Put an e-cutout before my cat as well....I'm redesigning the angle but it looks like this
Is there any way to stop the leak? Some RVT or something?

What do you mean I will have to run a pipe out the sides or to the back of the car? When the cutout is closed won't it just be going out my exhaust?
Will I have to use a 2 1/4" downpipe if I use my stock cat for normal driving while the cutout is closed?

Where can you find more info on these, prices? I am curious how they function, linear motion solenoid or rotary solenoid? I would probably use a Y pipe to get better flow than with a 90 degree intersection, if I installed that thing. Why not use your stock honda exhuast system with the cutout, if you are going to bypass whenever you run it hard anyways?? no? Otherwise you have LOUD/REALLY LOUD instead of QUIET/REALLY LOUD.
Edit: It would intresting to hook one of these up to be activated with an RPM switch on an n/a engine.
I would be worried about running lean if I was using one of these. If you dial in your a/f with the valve closed, then you might run too hot with it uncorked. On the other hand, dial in on an open valve, when you close it up you're wasting gas and hurting power. I'm sure there are ways around this problem though.

satan, what brand of cut-out is that? or did you just make it all yourself? I'm interested in doing the same.

Mine is made by quicktime performance. the link is above.
Attaching it to an RPM switch is kinda pointless because the cutout motor takes like 4-5 seconds to fully open.
And is not like you flick the switch, you hold it. So regardless you would need a rpm switch follow by a timed switch, and you would have to be able to reverse it....
by then you're in 3rd gear...sooooo...not really worth it...

I was using my stock cat for a while on my car. I just recently switched to a 2.5 inch strait pipe. You will be fine with your downpipe, but u will probably lose some lbs of boost. When I had the stock cat on I was running 5 lbs of boost and by switching to the straitpipe I am now running 7lbs like the car is supposed to. So you will notice some difference in that area, but other than that you should be fine..Good luck

I use a manul one I got it for 20 dollars from jcwhitny go to their site. It is also a lot easier to install. You can switch it any time from inside your cab.

Sorry I blew the motor and sold the kit, but here is a picture http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1874135617, thats the kind i got. You just run the cable inside the I had mine right under the hand brake and ran it thorough the hole where the shifter is ran it alonge the shift linkage and connected it to the cut out.
