I was wondering, how would I know my turbo have shaft play???

If the shaft has play, then you have shaft play.

 

a little is normal on a journal bearing as it is suspended in oil kinda like a rod and main bearing when it isnt running. grab the center nut and wiggle side to side. if it is excessive, take it to someone who knows whats up and let them make the call.
