Default How to wire a Bosch 12v relay to a pump.

I did a simple diagram I made for you guys. Since I have my pump under my car, and not in the engine bay, this is how I wired it up. http://www.turbomafia.com/Arturbo/relay.jpg

Hope this helps some. Come again and hope to see more of you boosting.

I heard dustin say that if the polarity is backwards it can cause the fuel pump to be really loud.. How can u tell if the polarity is backwards?

you can get the relay for like $5.00 at any parts store. . .as long as the schematics match.

Ok, I mounted my pump under the car by the rear left tire. So I tapped the Green/yellow wire on the stock pump harness to the relay(signal wire). Then I ran a 14g wire all the way to the battery fused with a 15A fuse. To me this is easier to do than getting under the dash and finding the right pin on the relay that has 4 wires the same color.

is it possible that i can just get a 12V switched power source and just hook it up to that or will it overwork the system and short it out ? OR will the fuel pump be constantly turning and pressurizing as the key is in ACC or ON position? Because i know there are areas on the fuse box where you can stick spade connectors in to get a constant 12V power Source or a Switched power source.

I would think you could tap it off on the extra pins on the fuse box, but I wouldnt do it. Its like hooking up an audio amp to the fuse box under the dash, you cant because of the current draw.
If you have ever worked with audio eqpt like amps, you wire a power, ground and the turn on wire from the head unit. That is the signal wire to turn the relay on/off so your amp wont always be on at all times.
