Default How will car run untuned?

I just had the AEM installed on my turbo LS, and am getting the car back on Monday, but it will be untuned. The dyno is booked until the end of the month, so I'm looking to drive it for a week or two at most untuned. The shop said that they will put a base program in there, but advised me not to beat on it(obviously).

Of course it would be better if it runs richer instead of leaner, but, are there any pointers that anybody can give me for driving it right now? Like, will it be safe to drive at freeway speeds? And how high should I bring up the rpm's? 4000? I just want to get by this upcoming week without any damage done.

P.S. Please don't waste your time by telling me not to race, because I already know this. I'm not that dumb.

Looks like you went with the AEM huh? Well if it was me, I wouldnt drive it at all unless I really had too. Who knows how good the base map is! If you really need to drive it then I would try to keep it easy on the rpms. Lower the better. Has your tuner, he would have a better idea then us.

From what I have seen on here the AEM basemaps really suck. Just take the bus for a week...it will suck but your car will love you for it!

So how is the car coming anyway??

My car has been gone since July 10th. I got so frustrated with my hondata problem. I decided to just go with the AEM instead.

But will my car be okay driving on the freeway? I know not to rev high, but, I've got a GSR tranny on my LS motor, so it revs higher already on the freeway at higher speeds. So if I drive slower at low rpm's, I should be alright for a week?

Why not just take off a boost pipe if youre so worried about it running lean?

I'm pretty sure it will run rich, instead of lean. I'm just concerned about driving it carefully for a week. If I keep the rpm's under 4000 at all times, and don't beat on it, and don't downshift to accelerate, will I be alright?

Ask your tuner dude, that's your best bet. He should know the base map that he is giving you and should be able to tell you the specs of the map.

If you run a turbo car without the charge piping attached you run the risk of over-reving the turbo, because it has no resistance

don't take off a charge pipe, your turbo will spin faster and faster till it ***** up. I'm sure the basemap is cool. why would they put anything on it if it wasn't decent enough to drive? Also, not downshifting to accelerate would seem to be worse than shifting, because you'll be putting more load on the engine and make the turbo spool up.

all the maps are O..K to drive..for a bit...but go REALLY easy on it....you migth have to work on the starting of the car a bit.... make sure the base timing is set right!

Well like I said, I won't drive it any more then I have to. And all my driving will on freeways. I'll just keep it slower so it doesn't rev so high.
