Default How vital is o2 sensor placement on a downpipe?

Im building my own downpipe for my obd-1 crx.I was wondering on where i should place my o2 sensor?I see some people do it by the halfshaft...while some companies like F-max run it about 8 inches away from the turbo?Does it matter? Is there any proven difference?Does it read different at different places? Thanks in advance...

if you have obd1, then you are using heated o2 sensor. just put it by the halfshaft infront of the cat. if you are using 0bd0 with nonheated o2 then you have to place it as close to the turbo as possible or on the manifold if you can to get the right heat.

you want the 02 sensor to be around 600-700 degrees F. When you go significantly hotter than that, it will read richer than it's supposed to, colder, and it will run leaner than that is actually occuring.

something to keep in mind.

post Turbo egt's will be almost double this... so i would place it a bit away from the turbo.
