how vital is a catch can
oh no not another one...
the first question I havent really seen talked about before... so rather then making this thread look exactly like the rest, I would also like to see input about question 1...
is there a HP range where catch can becomes more important or something like that? for example, does a 250whp civic need a catch can as much as say a 400+whp civic?
questions 2 and 3 you can find tons of threads with the info your looking for as far as setup.

a catch can is not a necessary item (in theory) on a Vtec engine. The "puff" you see on a Vtec engine is for a totally different reason... and has to do with the actual engaugement of vtec and it being an oil preasure activated system. the SOHC non-vtecs "may" need them. I'm knew to the b00st world so i'm sure there is someone more qaulified to speak on the subject... but my N/A (basically stock, hpde D16) uses oil and a baffeled catch can (which i had to custom make) has worked wonders on my blow by. That all being said i'm sure that motors with vtec and non vtec could benefit from a catch can... i'm just not sure how important it is unless your car sees constant high RPMs for extended periods of time.
i'm peicing my A6 b00st system... and will be using my catch can... but thats because i've seen the inside of my intake manifold and TB... and it wasnt nice... thats part of the reason i made the catch can.

Most Hondas come with a stock catch can. If you get into real high hp, you may want to add additional fittings on the valve cover and block for additional venting. I just went with the stock setup and vented it to open atmosphere instead of recycling it to the intake manifold. Worked pretty good so far at 15 psi.
the stock system is not ment to work with boost.
you can make it work pretty well by just venting it to atmosphere. if you making good power, might want to think about what ryan said and add vents to the front of the valve cover.
platinum.

if i just vent the valve cover fittings to the atmosphere where do i hook up the other line to, since one will go to the pvc?
(greddy catch can, with stainless steel kitchen scrubber inside)
