Default how to run my turbo?

i am having trouble w/ the blue box on my 6th gen civic w/ gredy kit so i bought a vortech 12.1 FMU, and have a missing link. i am gonna order a fuel pump too. what do i have to do about timing at 5.5 psi? and was the vortech fmu the right choice? i am gonna order a holley or bbk pump from summit cause i dont know where else to go. how hard can i push it w/o tuning the car by a shop? now looking back i should have got a better kit like drag or rev hard that was actually made for my car. can anyone help out?

i had a problem similar to yours when i had an fmax kit.... i kept having so much trouble with the mf2 comp that i junked it...
the pump and fmu should work fine for 5.5 psi.... you might run a bit rich.... as for timing i personally would only retard it maybe 2 degrees... but it is always better to be safe than sorry.... why not go with a btm?

keep your timing stock at 5.5psi...thats not that much boost. I have a friend running 12psi on a stock d16y7 with a y8 head and two d16z6 head gaskets (low budget metal greddy) and its running strong.

I highly recommend an exhuast temp and a/f gauge. With those two gauges you can tune your car pretty easily.

well i have an A/FR gauge thats not hooked up yet and i was gonna order a fuel pressure gauge though. i would have to drill a hole for the egt gauge too. and i dont have any ignition upgrades yet. this sucks. plus it's not even that fast. i mean it's night and day from the i/h/e i had but nothing special. ****** heavy 6th gens!!!
