How much can a stock K20 engine hold?
Hallo,
i've seen many high hp stock K20s and i'am wondering if anyone can give me some detailed informations about how this is possible?!?
what causes the engine NOT to detonate/knock at boost with pumpgas and that high compression ratio the stock K20 has.
i.e. i've seen 424whp @ 16psi with 93 octane - what timing you should have to go with that high boost levels...

Please give me some informations...
Thanks

Re: (Sketch_hs)
i have no doubt that the internals can handle that high amount of power. I'am worried about knock and detonations because of the high compression ratio (i think 11:1)
how does this can work with higher boost levels and pumpgas? i run 10:1 on my B16A engine and have to retard a lot of timing just to make 8psi without knock... how would that be on a 11:1 engine?!?
i think internals can be as strong as you want, if you have knock, the engine wont last very long... thats the problem i see... or has the K20 a very high knock treshold?!
Thanks
Malte.

The guy with the k24 is running a crv block which has something like 9.6.1 or 9.8.1 & the k24's journals are wider than the k20's.
I'd say mid to high 3's with the k20a2

heres another guy who put down 560whp and 392tq on a stock block. I believe he tuned the car himself and holds the record for power on a stock block for a k20a2.
