how much boost from this T3?
#7
I have the exact same turbo on my corolla (1.6L). At 7000rpm it makes 17psi. It's not too efficient at 17psi. I found it ran good at about 13psi, past that you are pushing a lot of hot air. I put a .60 compressor on it and it was making better power on the top end but the turbo lag got a lot worse and wasn't really worth it. I think the t-3 with the .42/.48 is a good size for a 1.6

with the .48 exhaust you will get a way better spooling power, the .60 compressor is a good housing, but you need to see what trim wheel you have. I would guess arund a 54 trim maybe. that turbo is good for around 400-450 wheel power and will start a decent spool around 2800-3200 rpm and top out around 5500-5800 rpm. it can product up to 23-25 lbs of boost.
the thing you have to realize is if you did pay $60 for it, what's wrong with it? anyone who has the turbo knwos what it's worth and if it is busted or needs rebuilding, that's around $300 or so average costs. (unless you got a guy who knew nothing and happen to have it by accident)
do you have pics? or anything?

dont count on holding more than 20 psi max , if that with a t3, but for $68 dollars its worth it, i would say about 16-17 psi is its max good working area
ask one of the guru's for those compressor maps, ( i dont undertsnad those htings), im going by what all teh t3 people i know have toldme

No more nitrous for me, i'm moving on to a new engine with some boost and some realy power. i blew my rings in my old motor. so it's time for a new Motor. it's gona be the toyota, b16 hydrid engine, with block posting and maybe a block guard with the holes drilled biger. I will be boosting around 13 for the street and 16-17 for the track. i'm shooting for 275whp-300whp, hopefully closer to 300. what do you think of this setup?

I just bought a .63 T3 for $70, you just have to buy it where the prices are lower, not honda classifieds. Ford guys use big T3s for their thunderbirds and some mustang projects and their prices are so much lower than what people on these boards sell stuff for.
