Default how much boost on a slightly build b16

hi guys..
What do you think how much boost is a slighty b16 bottom end able to handle? It´s almost stock except the rods and pistons. (8.5:1 JE pistons and eagle connecting rods). The bore is stock and the head is also stock incl. head gasket. Maybe I´ll change the head stunds (ARP). I´m planing to go with a GT28RS or GT2871R.

We are running 10 psi on an all stock block with 10.4-1 compression, which is said to be about as much as should be tried without sleaving or a blockguard properly installed. But simple physics says that if you lower your compressin that you can use more boost and end up withthe same cylinder pressures. I would say 14-15psi would be just fine.

Great info, so who again says that 10 psi is about as much as should be tried without sleeving or the omnipotent blockguard?

The block will take as much boost as it takes to max out a 28RS or a 2871R, so long as it's properly tuned. You could probably squeeze 20 psi out of either.

Well I built this car about 3 years ago and what I should have said was that for a car that gets thrashed daily that this is a "safe" number but I too have heard of people who have gone well over that but it is usualy followed by a tale a few months down the road about broken parts. I only can offer the experiance of myself and my freinds. Sorry if you think I am wrong.

I thrashed my stock sleeves B16 car at 20 psi daily and they did fine. Boost pressure has no relation to sleeve failure, +/- 10 pounds of pressure is nothing when you're seeing 1000+ peak cylinder compression on the power stroke.
