how much boost can a it take?
there is no set in stone number.
its based on:
turbo size, trim, a/r, flow rating
cc of motor
cc of combustion chamber
fuel
fuel management
and a bunch of other things i don't feel like typing out.
10 psi on a t25
is not
10 psi on a t88

your joking right .....your teling him to run 20 psi "tuned" on a stock motor ??

I don't think that he is. As long as the motor is in decent shape, with appropriate fuel delivery(high-flow pump, 720cc, etc) and decent management(hondata, Electromotive, F.A.S.T.etc) I really don't see a problem with 20psi. Besides, it's not like hes going to be running 20psi all the time.
Edit: Turbo selection will also affect how the motor responds to a given level of pressure. As was previously stated psi is not the same on every turbo, more importantly cfm isn't the same on every turbo.

theres no way 20psi on a stock enginge will work no matter how much fuel or tunniong was used....tthe factory pistons couldnt take tha kind of heat and the rods for sure cant take the stress ...mabye im wrong here but the sounds way out of line

Wich turbo do you plan on using, what injectors are you gonig to run and what kind of fuel management are you going to use, and are you going to use an intercooled setup?
These are some of the determining factors that will limit your boost. In most cases its not really the amount of psi your motor can handle, but the amount of horsepower it can handle. I'm gonig to have to say that the stock block can prolly handle up to 310hp(i have seem more though), but not constantly. I personally am going to run 10psi with a t3/t04b turbo with 550cc injectors and hondata.
550cc injectors can handle up to 325hp-350hp safely with good tuning and management
List your whole setup for us.
I'm see'ing some "odd" advice from people on this subject. Hopefully one of the guru's will pop in here.

well even say 20 psi on a stock dsm turbo ....(well i know it wouldnt putt out power but you get the point ,even that is to much on stock internals
