how mild of a cam
for a high horspower turbo motor I heard a milder cam is better? How mild for example do you need? I have a GSR motor and I eventually want to run a turbo and eventually get into high boost (15-20psi) I want to get cams right now but i don't want to end up buying a set now and a set later so I'm wondering if I Could run Skunk 2 stage 2 cams in high high boosted motor if if that cam is not mild enough? Also what cam does everyone reccomend Skunk, Toda, JUN? thanks

Re: how mild of a cam (twin rex's)
Mild as in little duration, then yes, but you want more lift in a turbo cam than a normal N/A cam. But you don't have to worry about that, the stock GSR cam is great for all but the truly hardcore. There's alot of info about cams in the archives.

umm yah...please do not put a skunk 2 stage 2 cam in your turbo car...if you even have to ask about this, then you should read up more before you go turbo.

Mattcalica, have you tried Skunk2 stage2 cams in your turbo car before? Just asking cause it seems like you did. What were the results?[

If you don't have extra $$ to play around with, your GSR cams will work perfectly. But if you have the means, try the Skunk2's. People have had great results with GSR and ITR cams, but this isn't always reason to just leave well enough alone. Why not try something more aggressive? As long as the overlap can be controlled via adjustable cam gears, why not give them a shot? James from Titan used a Jun II intake/ITR exhaust cam in his turbo 4 car with obvious success. If running a full s2 stg2 setup doesn't work, just swap in an itr or gsr exhaust cam and give that a try. Low mileage cams have a relatively good resale so you could just flip them and keep your stock gsr cams in the worst case.

Good enough? It is for many people. If you aren't satisfied with your power, then at some point you could upgrade to gsr or itr cams.
