Just curious...
Why would you not have a full 3" exhaust and bigger injectors? 550's will only get you so far on that turbo and a 2.5" turbo-back is hogging a good bit of power potential.

Just some food for thought.

A local guy here (owner of http://www.imageinmotion.com) Runs a SC61 on his BONE STOCK LS.
Thing spools super slow. He runs like 7 psi. I personally think the car woudl be much faster with a smaller turbo. ok maybe not faster, but the response woudl be so much better, especially for a street car. He has a RSR 2.5 exhaust, maybe thats why. But I swear my D series with a 16g felt faster than his car. He ran a 14.0 soemthing.
Now on a buitl LS with portwork and cams, thats a different story.

Ringlands don't care what turbo is on the car. Size of the turbo doesn't matter. It's the horsepower and cyl. pressure. In that link the engine could have made 350whp on a stock block. One of my old LS engines made 320whp w/ a GT28RS. But I guess that's ok because it's not as big as a SC61.

Well why wouldn't you buy a bigger turbo now so you can grow into it???

you should decide about how much power you want to make. For 3-400whp i'd really recommend going with something smaller that will have a better powerband.

i have the garrett sixty-1 on my gsr and it doesn't start to see boost till bout 3-4 grand and doesnt hit full boost until 5 and thats with vtec helping spool it
on your ls it will not hit full boost until about the same
you don't wanna use that unless you are goin to grow with reving longer and running more power it's an awsome street turbo but for a stock ls youll be hatin it
my stock ls ran a t3t4 57trim hit full spool at like 3-4 grand which is obviously better with a 7k redline
btw that turbo doesn't even start working effeciently till 15psi with that turbo the more boost the better
so for low boost your not gonna wanna do that, and i don't recommend more than 15psi for a stock lst daily driven, at the track yea it's fine . I had my stock ls pushing 330whp on 18 psi for over a year though but it was rish as **** the whole time, luckily it never blew

i had a t3/60-1 im not sure how close it is to the sc61
i loved it on my stock ls, driven around town you can stay out of boost no problem..
full boost by like 5200rpm 10psi stock ls 262whp
the car went 11.87@118 on bfg's . on. this setup 2 years ago

i would go with something smaller for the ls, the sc61 likes top end since it spools later than smaller turbo's. i had a sc6152e on my 85mm LS and it still didn't hit full boost till 5500rpms. with the stock LS it redlines pretty low so there's not much time in full boost. i would say get something a little smaller, or get the BB sc61. my built ls was aight with the sc61 since i could rev much higher

unless your rod bolts are ARP you are going to spin a rod bearing @7500 rpm!
Trust me i went thew like 3 motors that way...the reason i kept the rev limiter that high is beacuse i was smashing rev limiter in 4th gear @115 mph on 225/50's'

even still it's not gonna rev like you need it to faster car mean in full boost longer and youll die every gear
57trim will work great on yor car
if not throw that **** on if you don't have another choice

i am with sixty-1hatch on this one, i had a stock ls motor with a 57 trim on it

the motor loved that turbo, it didn't spool right away but it would full out of boost shifting at 7000rpms

i loved the 57 trim its a great street turbo and 1/4 turbo b/c it has a good power range

D-Tuned had a 100% stock LS with an SC61. Made 327 if I remember correctly. Beat the hell out of the car with no problems, but only had that motor for a month or so before the big motor went back in. The motor made it through almost 80 dyno pulls if I remember correct. Terry (boostfed) was there that night with us....long *** night
