Re: (nerdsports)
I've had mine for over a month now with no problems. I drive 100 mile everyday. I don't usually punch it unless I'm passing someone up.
My setup:
sohc zc/block from junkyard, everything checks out, no cyl wall damage, good compression, no leaks, no loose rod bearings.
d16y8 head from my old na setup.
new oem head gasket
d16a6 intake manifold
Garrett t3/t4 a/r 60
TiAL 38mm WG with 7psi spring.
no boost controller.
DSM 450 injectors
stock fuel rail, fuel pump
HKS SSQ blow-off
2.5" IC pipings
2.5" downpipe and exhaust
Base map from Phearable.net

I turboed a Y7 back in 03 w/ 38k on it. The car is still around town locally, same auto tranny, same kit (literally nothing under the hood has been touched relating to the turbo/piping or aythig). The car now has over 140k on it...same tranny. Running on the blue box

One year------- Stock y8 Peak boost kit 440s runnin 9 psi on a phearable base map untunned. THis is my daily and I hit boost all day everyday 7500 redline FTS. Raced every weekend. Car still pulls and runs as good as the day I slapped the kit on. Guess I'm just lucky...knock on wood.

no, mine is 4months and going, i am debateing to turn go get a retune with 14ish psi on stock block(with arp's) but i am wondering if i will blow a motor every year or not(due to hp) my tuner is good at tuneing(imo) and the reason i have so little power on 7psi is because of a small t3 but i have beaten on my car(dd) like everyday.
what i am wondering is how long my car will last on a stock block with arp's makeing like 220whp ish, with a tune of course. if it will last 2 years or more i will be happy.

4 months here. Turbo d16z6 is making 235whp/205trq on a stock z6. I have a new setup that will be hitting the dyno tomorrow for some e85 loving. I'll be turning up the boost too. Still on a stock block with skunk2 cam, supertech valvetains, and arp head studs.

Re: (troubledsol03)
month 2 = blown HG = bad tune
month 6 = blown tranny = too much fun
month 12 = bent rod = over rev
It's all in the tune. I got about 15K of good clean fun out of the greddy 19T kit, before I totaled the car.

so basically it is all in the tune(and those head studs and what not), so i should prob talk/ask my tuner if anybody or thing. and he would/could give me an estimate on how long my motor would last? alright thanks guys.
what the hell, lets try and keep it going.

Re: (big-cat)
mine was about 2-3 months before the head lifted at 5psi. I think I had alittle too much timing.
Now I have arp's and I gonna turn it up to about 10psi.
Turbo is a t3/t4 50 trim .48 a/r

Pull some timing if you're gonna do that.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by willyboyK20 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Now I have arp's and I gonna turn it up to about 10psi.</TD></TR></TABLE>

This thread is kinda pointless.
If you properly tune a motor, and don't push it past the components capable horsepower limit, then it will last a long time. Period.
It doesn't matter what size turbo you have, how mush boost you're running, etc. It's all about horsepower.
Find out how much horsepower the components you're running can take, then safely tune it for that level. Done.

Honestly, I never re-dyno'd after the rebuild, and I never ran it at the track. LACR closed down before I got a chance.
Pulls about the same if not a little more, so 230-240ish, 10psi.
The downpipe is 3", but the exhaust is only 2.25" so it's really holding it back. Planning on dynoing sometime in the near future with just a 3" open.
We'll see.

Re: (Tippyman)
stock d16z6 w / arp studs , tuned in august of 05 233whp 238 ft lbs tq on 15psi 7700 rev limit with ebay kit took apart 3 weeks ago due to blowing diff , enmgine still runs great , doesnt smoke or knock , call me a liar , whatever i have many vouches . i honestly tried blowing it up many of times , top end pulls to 7k in 5th gear , never fazed it seemed like the compression was maybe getting lower , but no sign of smoke or knock , engine had 160k when installed , new timing belt and water pump , thats it

Re: (MADMAX_zero)
Stock Y8 driven 50+ miles a day for over a year. 217whp and 168wtq on 8psi. The engine never blew but I swapped it with a Vitara/Eagle Z6, the Y8 still burns very little oil to this day.
