I've always saved all my money. One day I realized that I actually had enough to do something major to my car......like turbo it. So I never really saved for a turbo.

I cashed out my vacation when I quit my job and used that + my last paycheck to buy my kit

Thats exactly what I do bro! I was about to buy a b18c5 block, when I realized I had enough for a turbo kit! Last may I bought my engine swap for $2500, and this last december I bought my turbo kit. $3300

I pay my insurance every six months and I put a double payment away every month. Plus, I just have a tendency to save most of what I make. It works out damn good.

I worked for about 6 months making 500 a month, saved 400 per month, then I graduated from highschool and got a big collection of money from family etc.. Also had money in my savings account that I wasnt able to use till I was 18, Well ive spent all my graduation, all my work savings, and ive dipped pretty far into that savings account.. just hope nothing bad happens

Got a loan through the bank and when they asked what's it for, I simply replied "for furniture" which is now in my engine whistling.

I keep changing my mine on my setup. First I was gonna do a budget kit, backyard/woods style. Now I decided to do a brand new turbo, brand new wastegate. All this with the FMU setup. Now that I have all my fuel needs, I am thinking about Hondata. Just a couple of minutes ago I was reading the thread about the Golden Eagle group buy. While reading I was thinking--hmm find a cheap b18A block, some eagle rods and used JE's and bam instant 15-22 psi on the street.
man, this is getting expensive for supposedly being a backyard "lets see how little I can spend" project!
Oh well, it WILL be worth it in the end!

Oh yeah, ordering my turbo this week, yay!!

While I was in school I was learing about turbos while saving a little here and there, then I got my current job and was able to afford it. So I say it took me 3 years...

I got lucky at the races and won enough for a Greddy kit. Concentration my son. Concentration.

My policy is that all money won by the car goes back in to the car. That can be good or bad depending on how well you are at racing. I spent $40 to race and walked out with $1500. That was a good day. Most days I go in on $20 (the usual fee) and go out with nothing!

Its not fair living in Canada sucks. I wish our dollar values were the same. If it was like that I would be whistling down the street. Oh well maybe next year

And a lovley (albeit uncomfortable) set of lawnchairs you've got there! lol

I had absolutley no intention on going turbo, till one day I saw this GReddy kit for sale. Eveything + intercooler for $1200, I figured it was damn cheap and it was somewhat local, so I took the chance and bought it... and here I am sneezing down the streets today
