Default How hot does it get around the turbo/mani area?

Right now (for my feed line) I'm running a rubber hydraulic line, flame resistant and high pressure, blah blah blah. The guy at the counter said he "thinks" it's safe up to 200*. I'm guessing it gets way hotter than this in that "area"....but then I thought, you can put your hand by the turbo when it's hot without getting burnt. And 200* would burn you. It's also -4 so if it smokes or has problems I'll probably just break down and buy a line online, but I dont wanna wait 3 or 4 days!

count up how much u spent on everything ... divide it by 4, then tell me if you think its worth it waiting 4 days.

I ran a fuel line for an oil line for quite some time. I had no problems, but I eventually went for a braided line. let me see, I used it for many many months. ONly thing is that when you do take it off, it'll be rock solid!! haha, It'll shrink and get pretty constricted, but will still flow. You "WILL" have to cut it off at the barb fitting because trust me, you won't be able to pull it off!! haha, anyway, just make sure it's not in direct contact with the turbo or the manny and you'll be fine for the 3 days!! haha, but yah, patience is a virtue, but then again, driving a boosted car is a hell of a lot of fun!

ok cool, sounds good to me. I'll order up a normal line and just run this until it gets here.

haha, I thought you were looking for an answer like this!! I know I was when I was putting my kit together!! hahahaha Anyway, for the short amount of time, it'll be fine, just make sure you clamp it down and make sure it's not too big. But just remember, the braided lines are the ****!

I put a hose clamp on it after taking the pic.

Yea, my last ss line I tightened too much and it split the fitting on the end.

Why not put an inch or two of heat reflective tape around the area closest to the turbine?

I wouldnt worry about it melting as much as I would about it getting hard and cracking off.

I went to napa and asked for some fireshield or some heat blocking anything, and they said they don't have any. I'll have to check some other shops. But I think imma order the hose (or try and buy it locally) then try and drive my car little as possible until the thing gets fixed.

Go to the yellow pages and look up hose. I guarantee there is a place close by you that can assemble a ss line for you in just a few minutes. It should be pretty cheap too.

that's a ticking time bomb.. i had a similiar feed line setup, but mine was SS braided.. it wasn't clamped one , but just fitted one like yours..

we had just gotten back from a 3 hr trip from the drag strip and was about 2 miles from my house when i noticed smoke coming out of my hood.. i pulled over to check it out, and found out that the feed line had popped off the nipple and was leaking oile out of the line.. I was freaked out, so i just drove very slowly to my house and parked the car till i got a REAL feed line made.. haven't had a problem since..

dont cheap out when u're feeding ur turbo its life blood..

I ran a rubber oil feed line for a year.

After a while though, the fitting started to leak so I got a Flamenco-T oil feed line kit

Double-clamp it fo sho

this is the exact thing he wants to know. He's not looking for a permanant solution, just something to hold for 3 or 4 days, then he's throwing on a braided line. I'm pretty sure that's what he's doing! haha, but yah, for the week it will be fine.

For God's sake, please double or triple hose-clamp it. It's going to fly off...I know this, because mine did the first night I got my car running with the turbo kit, leaving me stranded at 1:00am with a dead cell phone, no oil AND it was the night before school started.

GOD that night sucked.
