Default How do you stop Aem Cam gear slippage?

I have a chance to get some used aem cam gears. I was worrying about them slipping. What happens to the motor if they slip??? I asked the owner he said the magic number to torquing them is 15lbs ,but he still had a lil slippage with new bolts. How do you stop it cause I real want to buy them.

why don't you buy cam gears that have more than 3 bolts?

Swtich the bolts over to a hex head bolt and use a split lock washer.

I have AEM gears with 12pt or 8pt I don't know, but they don't slip at all. I had them on for a while. I torqued them to 15lbs. AEM reccomends to put lock-tite on them.

What does the slippage do to the engine?

It retards the cam timing. If it goes far enough, there's the possibility of interference.

It causes your valves and pistons to mate and make little baby peices of valves and pistons inside your motor....
