well they built a few guys cars on HT.. they have built a few 400whp honda's and overtime i began to trust their work.. the plus was that they were local and have over 25yrs exp.. mostly with domestics.. like rick james said.. " i should've never given you *****s money" to build our ******* block.. we're going to go back there and im going to raise hell.. first the builder that i trusted fucked up and bored the sleeves to much (we were initially going stock sleeves) and the cp pistons wouldn't fit, so he said we had to resleeve it.. stupid ****.. i hope he reads this **** too cuz it's all his fault..

most sleeves come made already for a specific bore from what ive heard.. i might be wrong on that but sounds like something the manufacter could do easier then a machinst at a shop..

Those do not look like AEBS sleeves. You need to ask your machine shop WTF they were thinking drilling them out further? Tell them to buy you some new sleeves and leave them the way they were designed.

and you got screwed on the sleeves also..

take a look at your pic here..

you can see on the left side of the piston they have drilled... and on the right side they have not.. compare that sleeve to the pic of these AEBS sleeves, i know these are aebs becuase i have aebs sleeves in my block..

everything is straight cut and there is no extra drilling..

I would email that pic to AEBS directly. Tell them the name of the company that did the install/machining, and ask THEM what THEY think.

They will tell you if it their sleeves or not.

seems to be a lot of garbage coming out of your mouth. Why not let Gene and Pat(owner of Edward's) figure something out if he's not happy. You think you running your mouth in here is going to solve anything?

BTW, it's not Jared's fault for ANY machine work...that will have to be brought up to Edward's, and Gene knows this.

garbage? look at this kids motor?? What the **** should be comming out of his mouth? flowers maybe? Maybe he should give the butcher who did this a big fat tip, maybe a couple hundred or so... maybe a gift certificate to the nearest sizzler? so he can get a big steak so he can HACK that up too! huh?

just ****** around.. it does look pretty bad though...

it would be like me getting mad at you about it....whats the point? Besides, 90% of the people in this thread probably haven't even built an engine, let alone a 9,10,11,12, chit, even 13 second ones.

They installed these sleeves:

Darton solid deck 84.5mm into my room mates ITR block, which I built. Haven't had a problem in over a year

haha.. yea alot of **** is coming out of my mouth.. jared is the one that fucked up in the first place.. if he didn't **** up in the first place he wouldn't have spent 1100 on these shitty sleeves from edwards.. we'll take care of it.. i just know that i have sent jared 4-5 people to get their stuff done.. it wont happen anymore..

seeing that Jared is the machinist and did order the parts, then yeah, he is the one to blame.... oh wait....

he's not the machinist and he didn't order the parts. Well that's odd....

He doesn't even work for Edward's anymore...he's just trying to help Gene get a solid engine together and all you do is bash it.

The machinist, who has built more 9 second cars than cars you have driven, drilled the holes in the deck to match that of the head gasket. Go look at an OEM head gasket and you will see the exact pattern. Did he do this on accident? No...he did this for a reason. He's a profressional....it's more than any of you guys can say.

I hope you're not serious about that statement. Would you like me to personally ask the guys at AEBS what they think about the "professional" drill job that was done to their sleeves?

I mean don't you think AEBS or Darton would design the holes that way if that was the best design? In any case if it wasn't requested that it was done they should have left it alone.

BTW...the only holes that are shaped the same as the pattern that was drilled out are on the oil pump side. You can see that AEBS did compensate for it by making 2 holes right next to each other. The rest of the holes on the head gasket are regular circles.

lolz.....are you serious? Just because he has built motors for some 9sec cars does not make him a God and free from mistakes or shitty judgement. Those holes were not there from the manufacturer and they do not follow the holes for any oil or coolant passages. One big reason is because there are no holes next the casing which the new "drilled" holes are clearly touching.

I have built my share of motors and I'll tell you that you do not need to be some rocket scientist to do it. So your comment on him building those motors from 9 sec cars do not really apply here because a motor put together by a guy who can read a manual and file some rings can build a 9sec motor....it's all in teh tuning, car, suspension....yadda yadda.

I have nothing against you or this Edwards place, but I just feel that it was wrong to have drilled the block without the owner's consent

see thats what i dont get... why does bruce's motor look so clean but mine looks like ****... the drilled holes and all doesnt look as good as his does... i paid hella for it and its not even a good job...even though he drilled them like the OEM gasket atleast drilled them so they look nice but its all over the place ... but anyways i have talked to jeff at edwards and he told me thats what AEBS tells them to do... well i have emailed AEBS to see if this is the way ur suppose to do it... and ill see what they say... but 1189 is not cheap and i dont want a cheap *** job done so if its not right ill be heading back to edwards to tell them to fix it...

I just talked to one of my friends over at Group5 (owner of AEBS used to own Group5). We would like to know who is the person he spoke to at AEBS who told him to drill the holes out. Let's get some names.

Ben Ma the owner of AEBS said this, "The holes in the sleeves are CNC'ed and we do not recommend any type of modification to the design. They are not to be notched or drilled out any further to look like a semi-open water jacket"

He is expecting a phone call from "someone", assuming the "professional" who drilled out the sleeves without the owner's permission, is willing to give him a call. (858)693-3200.

I hope that puts an end to this debate once and for all.

Oh, BTW I hope they replace your sleeves with new ones because thats one bad butcher job.

it has nothing to do with you, like you think everything else does. I have no clue what took place and I really could care less. All I know is that you are blaming Jared for something he had no control over. Gene needs to talk to Jeff about it, and if Jeff is in the wrong, then they will take care of him....

it's when you call my brother a "stupid ****"...that's what pisses me off. Once again, running your mouth over the internet...not once in this thread has anyone said anything negative about you. Have some ******* respect
