how do i measure the voltage for a TPS sensor?
I just used a standard voltmeter to check which wires were which on the TPS. Obviously there's three wires, one is ground, one is constant I believe, the other varies between .1 and 5V at WOT. HTH, EV.

excuse my ignorance but, i haven't done this before. so, do i test the voltage on the harness to the TPS or do i test the terminals on the TPS? and how would i do this? i would appreciate detailed info if possible. thanks.
sup dude, you can back probe the harness side of the connector with a t-pin, that is of course with the plug still connected to the sensor itself. There will be a signal return which will read probably about .45 volts whith throttle closed, this is the wire you want to check, not the 5 volt reference. Anyway, just manually sweep the throttle, you should read from .45 to about 4.5 volts at WOT. Use the min max on your volt meter to catch any glitches or momentary opens that you would not see on a digital meter while sweeping the throttle. Hope this helps.

thanks, i have a better understanding now but what is a "t-pin?" so, what you're saying is, i would test the back of the harness with a voltmeter while the harness is connected to the TPS and with the ignition on?
thanks again.
thanks again.
yep with everything connected and ign on, a t-pin is just like a sewing pin but with a t-lookin head on it, thats what I use anyway, I suppose you could back probe with regular pin also, its just that the t head is easy to attach the jumpers or the leads from your voltmeter onto
