Default Breaking all the Rules, Building a T28??

Well in my quest to be unique I'm conteplating the inevitable, not building a t3/t04 turbo and going T28. Is it possible to build a T28 to create some serious Power on a mainly stock Type R motor? I've been thinking about having TEC Build me a T28. I had a brief Conversation with one of the guys over there and he said he basically build it to my specs and get some serious power out of it. I just said I want REALLY fast spool up, yet still want to make power and not have the turbo run out of steam at the top end of the Type R power band. He said it would be no problem and he can trick it out however I want, he mentioned possibly running a T3 housing w/ their T28 internals? I'm a bit novice on the actual specs of turbos, so he was going on and on about all the tinkering he can do to it, so I really have no other info. right now.
Any thoughts/ideas/flames?
Thanks for any info. you guys are the pro's.
Also, I'm planning on probably running the HKS B series Manifold, it's cheap and is pretty good quality. I ran it on my Boosted '00 Si and was very happy w/ it. Any negative thought's on that manifold?
M

Well, Forced Performance's Big28 is good for 11's...on a 2G Eclipse. So I think it flows enough for whatever you need it for.

Several Pulsar GTiR SR20DET's have made 300-325 whp with the factory T28. They are great turbos. They have fairly quick spool and won't die out up top. I carry the Factory GTiR Garrett T28 for $650.00. It is an awesome turbo and it will bolt up the HKS manifold! I can get you the HKS manifold also! I think that turbo will be great for the street! Let me know if you need anything or if you would like to discuss your project! I will be more than willing to help you out!

how much are the manifolds? I found some site for 290 shipped or something. I will be getting a T28 off my friends sr20det (its REALLY NICE) and he's already close to 300 HP on it.

Which manifolds are flanged for the t28 on a B series? Is HKS the only one that makes one?

And also, anyone know if the stock t28 off an S15 (Sylvia) is the same as Forced Performance's t28 (DSM)? Or what's the difference?

HKS is the only manifold that I know of!

The Silvia S15 is a Ball Bearing T28 and will support the same HP as the Pulsar GTiR turbo but will spool even quicker!

Thanks for the info guys.
I figured a flame war may be on the horizon before I posted it
Does anyone have a guess as to approx. how much power I could put to the wheels, w/ minimal boost approx. 6.5psi? It will be intercooled, and fuel etc. will be sufficient(not sure if I'm going standalone quite yet)
Thanks.

That sounds about right @ 6.5 - 7 psi!

TTT one last time...
So what will your run of the mill t3/t04e put to the wheels at the same amount of boost? More power but slower spool?? I'll trade a bit of power for quick spool assuming it will hold out and not run out of steam at the top end. I want to be unique but not be dissappointed with less power.
Thanks again for all the info!

You will notice that the T28 will have full boost by 2500-2800 rpms whereas a T3/T04E with a .63 A/R Housing will have full bost by 3500-3800 rpms. A T3/T04E with a .63 A/R Turbine hosuing is good for 350-375 hp whereas the T28 is only good for ~300 hp. I have seen the T28 produce 321 whp, but the turbo becomes pretty scary! You will have to decide which turbo will best suit your needs. If you are looking for a quick spooling street car, I would go with a T28. Cost will also be les because there is no external wastegate needed. The actuator on the Pulsar GTiR T28 is adjustable from 7-9 psi. You can always add a bleeder valve to up the boost!
