Default Hondata users question....

well got my lil puppy almost running...just a li glich i wanna ask Hondata users

system is a Hondata S200B
ECU is P28
Skunk2 OBDII-OBD1 conversion harness

I started the car up and about 15 secs. later the CEL came on...well went to try and pull and code and the CEL light stays on. Then i cut the jumper J12 on the ecu to see if that would help. Nothing.. Red led on Hondata unit stays solid...but CEL will not go away....any ideas??

are you sure it solid? it won't blink fast.. look at the light for several seconds.. to see if it really is.. i waisted 1 week going back/forth, burned a second chip, was about to run another ecu.. until turns out my cable was loose at times and bringing random cel..

also, i don't know if its possible to pull codes the traditional way with hondata, i know you can do it with notebook hooked up.. but otherwise..

i don't think you can pull codes the traditional way through jumper.. you gotta hook it up to computer with hondata software to read codes..

I still pull codes off of the jumper. Mine is a 92, maybe the harness adapter messes that up though.

even with the cel litup, does the engin run? good? also you will need dataloging as well as a computer to read the code. try reinstalling the stock ecu and see if you find anything.

I think solid means that the ECU has a problem.

well at first the car started up really crappy...then I called up John @ Secret Services and he told me to cut the jumper J12 and started up nicely and idled nicely too...but CEL still stays....i dunno...i guess it just needs to get tuned...

If you have a P28 ECU and have the knock sensor enabled the CEL will stay on and give no error code when the jumper is bridged.

You will need to jump the sevice connector and read the flashes of the CEL. THis will tell you what the error is and you can then either troubleshoot the problem, or reburn the map to fix whatever is causing it.

Did you reset the ECU after you cut the J12 jumper? The CEL might not go away on it's own.
