Well that's what I am dealing with...but need some info...

I need to clock the housing to have the charge pipe face down.. what do I do w/ the stock w/g if I want to use it ??

What is the boost on the stock w/g ? This turbo's out of an auto DSM right ?

Yeah, but with the sohc, quick spool potential, low boost operation and ease of upgradability... it pretty much fits my bill.

So anyone know ??

hey you gotta start somewhere. Sounds like a good budget setup. Unlike me, I'm about to dump a lot into some serious upgrades.

That turbo is out of the DSM 1st Gen Autos.

I'm pretty sure it boosts 10-12psi stock. There should be a couple of bolts on the inside of the compressor housing. Lossen all of them (but do not remove them) and you should be able to turn the housing to where you need it. You will need to make a custom flange/fitting for the WG to attach to the compressor housing properly.

Happy boosting...

that turbo will be fine. i'm running a td04L off '02 wrx and it's great for d16.

do what bryson said unless it's line mine and then you will have a big circlip holding the compressor to the center section. if that's the case get a rather large pair of ring pliers (the larger the better).

After dumping over $10k into my last turbo teg..... I chose to go low end on this project... insurance don't pay you back the way you'd like. Anyway, 8-10 psi from a barbie doll hairdryer shouldn't have too much trouble pushing a 2100 lb hatch.

So I shouldn't have any problems clocking the housing... but as far as fabricating a w/g bracket... should i just have a cnc shop make a braket or has someone done it themselves ?

And 10-12psi stock??? How do I lower the preset boost?!?!

just buy a little strip of steel from hardware store and drill and cut it as needed. as for lowering boost the best way is to get another actuator. just put on a large fmic and you should drop at least 2psi easily.

TEC and cheapturbo.com sell universal 7psi internal wg actuators for like $60...I'm ordering mine next week for my TD04. BTW I have the same turbo, its small, but you gotta start somewhere

BTW, I'm in the same boat about clocking the tubro, I know there are dowel pins holding that circlip, but I can't figure out the right way to pop it off??

10-12 psi.. 20-25 psi.. don't worry about the psi. worry about the cfm. that small of a turbo may only give you 5hp per psi for all you know??
you may need 10-12 to get the power you want. you may need more. how knows?

I haven't tried that yet, but do you need to remove the circlip ? I figured it should be able to turn when loose ??

As far as the cfm... I know this turbo does not flow very much, but it will give me a little extra power for regular street driving. The turbo's upgradability is pretty open and I'll have planning time for that... Plus, this turbo's watercooled as far as I can see... +++

The stock boost level on that turbo will make the D16 fly! I ran 12psi from a T-25 on my stock ZC for over a year and ran 98mph traps (on a stock clutch non-the-less). You shouldn't need to worry about lowering the boost if you have the supporting mods, and tuning.

All you need to do is loosing the C clip, break the housing loose (because of age it will be kinda "snug". WD40 will help ) and turn to your desired position. From what I can remember you don't need to remove it.

actually you kinda have to grind down a pin on the cartridge to clock it i just did mine today : i used a bench grinder wheel thing and took it off carefully. Youll have to do it on both sides cuz that way you oil return is facing downwards. good luck
