Default hondata question: does it replace the factory ecu?

do i take the whole factory ecu out and put in the hondata? is that how it works? and i purchased the stage 2 with boost. should i have gone with stage 3 with boost? AEBS told me that when they tune it works but not to the fullest extent because the feature is somewhat "turned off." i would appreciate some help.

In fact the Hondata IS a factory ECU, modified. So yes you remove the existing one and replace it with the Hondate-modified ECU.

The only additional features on Stage 3 are a two-stage rev limiter with full-throttle shift capability. That's ALL. If your tuner claims a 2b in any way limits your potential, find another dealer because this guy is a tool.

Hondata fuctions off modifying your stock ECU, not replacing it. If you have OBDII, look to purchase the OBDI harness and the computer itself. Hondata has a section on it's site that will tell you what is compatable with your car OBDI-wise if your car is in fact post-'95.

For me, it is Hondata 2B!!!!!
It is kinda tough to swallow the added $400 for converting to OBD1 but I think it is worth it in the end!!!

sorry, i believe i phrased it wrong but, he said that the stage 3b wouldn't be used to it's full potential because i believe the full throttle shift capability will be turned off that is why he recommended the stage 2b instead of the stage 3b.

how effective is the stage 3b with the two stage rev limiter and the full shift capability? should i have spent the extra $ for the 3b?
