Hondata Question??
Just trying to clear something up. I am planning on buying a hondata system.
can someone make a list of what I need. I know I need the main unit with the boost option. But what gets me confused is what ECU do I use to get chipped.
I own a 96 Honda Civic (d16y8). I know I am going to need a conversion harness to OBD-1.
I just want to know what I need to get my car running on a base map enough to get it to a tuner while spending the least amount of money. In the future I plan on tuning myself but I dont quite know the language of the program.
One other question, is $500 dollars + dyno time of $80/hour to much for Hondata tuning?

You'll need an OBD-1 P28 ECU. You'll need these features to tune yourself:
Base s200 Unit
Boost capability
Datalogging capability
ROM Editor V3 (requires datalogging)
Programmer (requires ROM Editor V3)
If you won't be tuning yourelf, all you need are:
Base s200 Unit
Boost capability
All options are available here:

You'll need to stop by your local Hondata tuner where you're going to dyno later and get them to put on a base map so you can start the car. If they're nice to you, it will be free, if they're punks, it'll be ~$25 bucks.
If you're tuning yourself (bad idea), you'll need to get the map file and load it up. Hondata has some cool start up files that have various setups close to what you may have. Most of them are very very rich so you're on the safe side.

that's kind of expensive, but then it depends on how much time they plan on spending w/ the tune.$500 sounds like an all day affair.

yes, i think you are getting took.you can finish a turbo single slammer in a hour and a half.of course it depends on the set-up.
